The Droid TV thread

Another issue, the device has Netflix, Amazon and some apps I don't want or will never use, I remove them but when I power up the device from scratch again, a screen pops up and re-installs the apps I removed?

There's probably a boot script that runs everytime you power on. The apps should be located somewhere on your system partition, if you remove them with a root explorer, they won't be installed again

To upgrade to XBMC gotham, do I just need to download android arm apk from xbmc.org and "replace" the frodo version currently installed on DroidTv?

Something like that :)

Hopefully the ATV400 boot script doesn't overwrite it with Frodo, maybe test first by un-installing Frodo and rebooting?

So got everything working latest XBMC (Gotham) and Airplay and Airplay mirroring.

The Airplay mirroring is pretty nifty, streams my home videos, pictures and IOS games to TV without any issues.

Although Real Racing didn't look that good on 42 inch samsung, can't really complain.

I stream all my items to DroidTv via Afrihost mifi device, surprisingly fast does support wifi N.

What media player do you guys recommend using for my ATV400 unit?

Also the unit came with XBMC frodo on it, if I add a usb drive Android picks it up but nothing show's up under Videos - Files in xbmc?

Install ES File manager and open the files from there - see what's actually installed on your system. I discovered a media player that doesn't show up on the menu. I use XBMC / something called 'media player' that came with my unit and ES movie player.

What gaming device do you use?
Worms 2 is loads of fun on a droidTV as well :)

I tried with iPad 3 but it got heavy after a while so switched to iPhone 5S running Real Racing 3 and Real Racing 2.

Tried Infinity Blade 2 last night and it has best graphics I have seen so far.
My MAC is running x-mirage http://www.x-mirage.com so I can also airplay/mirror to it.

Tested Avatar 40GB mkv file from Blu-Ray rip 1080p DTS-HD and all came through without stuttering.

Boot time on the unit is 30seconds from cold boot and about 2 seconds from standby.

All devices connect/sync together using my Afrihost Dongle even Avatar streamed from MacBook to DroidTV without issues.

For Worms I use the Mele F10 Pro since it's that kind of game - works well with pointer and mouse. Unfortunately it has no BT. I am looking out for a wireless controller that I can pair with the thing over 2.4Ghz if such a thing exists, otherwise an ordinary USB controller will do.

I just received my box today and i am really pleased with it. I have encountered a problem though and hope someone might help. I have downloaded apps for comcast xfinity and beinsports as i have accounts for them. When i start a live stream on these apps, i get a blank screen or cant play video message. I have tried both apps on my Sammy galaxy note 10 and they work well. Anyone know what could be the problem? TIA

Hi digitalp

Can you send me the play store links to both apps?

Thanks

xfinity go https://play.google.com/store/search?q=xfinity go&c=apps

you will need a US vpn. Hotspot shield will do

beIN Sports: you will not find the app on the palystore if not in the MENA region get the apk from the link below

https://www.dropbox.com/s/c9c7kj016bb24fn/ptv.bein.mena-3.0.apk

You will need a DNS service to watch video. The app starts initially in arabic. just tap and hold the screen for the menu. go to settings and change language to English. when done, Tap the screen again to bring up the menu and select the first channel which is free globally.

I have 1.1.7 and it's rooted afaik. I'm not sure why everyone says it's not rooted. I may be missing something.

I am experiencing the strangest problem with my droid. When it's on, my modem looses sync. It started yesterday and i thought it was the weather affecting my connection. I even placed a called with Telkom to check my line. I took it to work this morning and by the time i left home, my connection was back to normal. this evening, i switched it on and started experiencing the same problem with my connection. I turned off my device and my connection has been fine. My router is a Pace VDSL from Telkom. Has anyone experienced this problem? I am new to this and really need time learning it. Secondly, it is struggling with HD files. TIA.

Definitely haven't experienced anything like that. How does it connect to your router? Wifi or cable? Try the other way (wifi or cable) and see if it persists? Mine says on 24x7. Can you pm me and tell me more about the hd files? Send linky if they came from the web and I'll test one on mine.

What firmware are you running? I think it's in settings - about.
