The Droid TV thread

From all the testing I've done today it seems like the problem is the optical output. Will try again tomorrow but it's frustrating. I've rechecked all the settings about 20 times already.

Hi Awesun

We have two more things to test before swapping out the hardware

Can you get an optical cable from someone, and would you be willing to try a fresh firmware install (MicroSD card required)

I've tested 3 new units now and all of them worked first time

Thanks

If you plug in the optical cable do you see a light on the other side?

He said he does

A few seconds after choosing SPDIF output, I hear the navigation sounds on my amp

Can only be 1 of 4 things now

(1) Optical cable
(2) Firmware corruption
(3) Bad Hardware
(4) Compatability issue with the amplifier

Good news. The firmware update worked. Thank you AVSupply for all your help.

Only problem now is I lost XBMC and all the other apps. How do I get it back?

As discussed on the phone, try the update again. If my settings aren't there after first boot, I'll upload a new version for you to try

Great news that the sound is working!! :)

Good news everyone ... Excuse the pun :-)

Netflix in HD will come in the version 4 API on Android which will use HTML5 for streaming. Depending on the DRM and Google certification level, if any, you should be able to stream in glorious 720P HD on your Android box. Something to look forward to, unless your GMS was side loaded :-) 1080P will be restricted to Netflix partners, Roku, Xbox, LG, Samsung and the like. In other words companies that sells a lot of devices or hold a Google certification level.
Android L operating system is also on route to a Android device near you :-)

AVSupply, any quick fix for the MXIII will work for an hour or so then just go black ?

Thanks

Hi Cosmic_Nomad

Do you have the 1GB or 2GB version ,and how long ago did you buy it?

What application(s) were you using when it goes black, and is it completely unresponsive afterwards?

Thanks

Great news. For me 720p is fine, and I have a capped ADSL line anyway.

New Google Nexus box out too.

And a new Ninja Box :D

Cool. I'll upload it tonight

Has anyone been able to mirror an iPhone / iPad on their droidTV using Airplay?
I tried today and got the sound working for a youtube clip, but no picture.

I'm on iOS 8 on the iPhone.
I tried with the Airplay app that comes with the droid TV box as well as XBMC with airplay enabled but no go. Perhaps it's only designed to do sound?
Ta!
