The Droid TV thread

Is it not staying on the manual setting?
No it is staying on the manual setting. If it's on the auto setting, it sets me to 576p despite going via HDMI. So after a reboot, it will detect and select 576p, so I would then have to manually force 1080p. Annoying, but it's fine. Hoping Jaque can have a look at one of the MXQ's, and if there is something funny happening try and get a fix going.

What do you guys use for news channels eg eNCA, BBC World, CNN, Al Jazeera etc While Livestation has all these channels via flash on its website the app require a sub. Roku has Nowhere TV which works well.
Check one or 2 pages back for an app. Not sure if Mobdro does Al Jazeera, but the others I'm sure it does.

From my experience the live streaming channels on the Roku such as eNCA and CNN never worked reliably. Mummybox, Livestation, Giniko and FilmOn which used to stream much better than Nowhere TV were all removed from the Roku platform due to disputes with their cable partners.

There is an eNCA feed on Mobdro which I tested last night on the MXIII which seems to work better than the Roku one ever did. Most of the Livestation feeds were available free on Mash Up until a few weeks ago. All of the BBC/ITV channels are available in the XBMC FTV add-on - you should be able to test these with any browser at www.filmon.com under the UK Live Channels section. Both Mobdro and vdubt25 have most of the Sky/Bein sport channels amongst others.

This is the vdubt25 channel playlist that comes preloaded in the PVR IPTV Simple Client in XBMC on the MXIII/MXQ. The channels names appear at the end of the top row of each paragraph.

You can also stream many of the channels in HD quality using the Torrent Stream Controller app. This app can also play the HD quality Acestream sport torrent streams which are listed on www.wiziwig.tv.

Here is an example of some Acestream feeds for tonight's UEFA Europa League game between Inter Milan and FC Dnipro ...

Thanks Yotch, informative as always! Now just waiting for avsupply to get their mx3 stock in.

Okay after a few reboots, Jaque I'm having remote issues. Remote just stops working, or the system just completely locks up and freezes. It then requires me to press the power button to reboot. Remote will work for a while again, then just looks like the box has frozen and I can't use the remote

How far away from the box are you sitting, and have you tried different batteries?

Not a big problem to manually force it, but it would be cool to have auto detect work

I just loaded 3 MXQs and all of them auto detected my TV's resolution

It could be your HDMI cable, can you try with another one?

I'll try both suggestions Jaque with remote and HDMI. I used my own HDMI, so will try the one that came with the MXQ.

I am possibly a few feet away from the box. So not far away.

Mine also auto detects without any hassles.

I have mine on a 5m HDMI while I fiddle with everything ;)

I'll check again tonight with the supplied HDMI cable. Other than a few issues, I was happily watching skysports news this morning minus DSTV. Last night I watch the Europa league football minus DSTV. And tonight I'll watch the NBA minus DSTV :D lol

They key being 'minus DSTV' I am also enjoying my morning news now :D

Yeh no more DSTV. Hahaha. Can happily wait for the F1 to start next year minus DSTV. I'm sure Jvan is also happy about that lol

Hi, I am heartbroken and I have been DSTV free since the world cup :D

Haha, you guys have a good one, have to get to work now.

Good Morning all have decided to buy one of the MXIII 2Gb. Who has stock so I can buy one for the weekend

Question for all here. Lets say i do a 2MB line with Telkom as an example. would this be okay to stream content? i dont intend to do any big downloads. Just to stream from XBMC and Mobdro.

or say i went to a 50GB or 100GB capped account, if i had to stream throught most of the day, how far into that would i get for the month? i know its a difficult question to answer, but im intrigued to know what the best solution would be. Main purpose would be strictly streaming, downloading a few apps and thats about it.
