The Droid TV thread

So when the unit freezes does the remote still flash purple or does the LED stay dark?
 
If you unplug the 2.5" drive does the unit still freeze. The 2.5" drive needs a lot of power to operate. Just check that 2.5" hard drive is not causing the problem. The 3.5" drive has its own power supply so that should be OK.
 
Kinda hinking its a power supply issue here. Factory sometimes sends the wrong rating. I am out. Long day. Sleep tight guys ☺

Haven't had the 2.5 in. But the 3.5 in and with that in it freezes. Cant remember if i had a freeze up with the 2.5 in. Didn't check the remote to see if it still flashes purple. I'll check that. If it does flash still, then do I assume that the box might be acting up?

All very strange

I wonder if the new permissions I added to the update are causing more harm than good :confused:

@Iceman, please install the official XBMC remote on your smartphone and test with that

@jdzah, I'll upload a v1 kernel patch for you (15-20meg download). Do you have a MicroSD card to load the update?

So frikken excited. Have convinced the wife I'm buying one and it will be cheaper than replacing my old machine that died
 
I'm sure that it will give you many hours of entertainment. I am hoping that my streaming performance picks up once everybody goes away for Christmas!

I will try this Jaque. However, I get the freeze on the launcher as well when I boot up. So if it doesn't work, then I can't get into xbmc anyway.

Thank you for all your advice in this thread so far. Do you have any more recommendations before I get mine such as settings etc? As I will be using mine with WiFi
 
@Icemanbrfc: Let J get some rest after the long day he has had! It isn't every day that you get a visit from ICASA.
 
@Lino I'm using mine on WiFi on a 10Mbps line. An air mouse is really great if your budget allows otherwise you can get by with the IR remote or a wireless desktop mouse, trackpad, mini keyboard etc.
 
@Icemanbrfc: Did you find anything interesting on Kalahari. I must say that those vouchers are very tempting.
 
OMG about ICASA news. That sucks because it cost about R4000 to get each new model certified and takes forever :( Probably some Multichoice prick on the forums responsible ...

Not a stupid question. I was wondering that myself. The MXQ has a power button on top with a blue light when powered on, which I'm assuming is the power light. On the right hand side are the 2 USB ports, and at the back the HDMI, power supply port etc.

So I'm assuming that the front directly opposite to the HDMI port side is what needs to be front facing for it to pick up the remote. I'm not sure
 
Just to answer @yotch question from last night. When the player is frozen, the remote light still flashes purple when viewing through a phone camera

Will leave the MXQ for now. I'll wait until Jaque gets sorted with this whole Icasa nonsense, and then see if I can get a replacement box or some work around from him

Nice - got my Tronsmart Mars gamining remote for gaming on the box now Eskom is load schedding @!%$#@!#
