So...
i figured drummers need their own little corner on MyBB as well :)

Thought I would start off with some intro's

3 drummers alive today that I admire:
1. Danny carey
2. Carter beauford
3. Craig Blundell (odd one i know, there are tons of others..queue mike portnoy / dave lombardo etc)

Current Kit
Td4k2, still stock standard

I played for a while, then took a long, long break.
Recently got the kit, absolutely loving getting back into things.

Currently just working on getting my feel back, starting lessons end month so I dont get bad habits early on!

Anyone else got v-drums?
Recomendations on double bass pedals?

Cool thread :D

I'll nominate Gavin Harrison as my favourite drummer right now.

I have a Roland TD3 kit, but I've upgraded the module to a TD9 and also added a ride.

Actually trying to sell my old TD3 module.

Favorite drummers: Mike Portnoy, Gavin Harrison, Danny Carey. And lots more, but I have an absolute fascination with Mike Portnoy, case in point: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=XW-CI6nGxl8#t=754s

Currently I have a Sonor kit with Sabian cymbals and a Tama DB pedal. Going to buy me something like this http://www.thomann.de/gb/sonor_ascent_dark_natural_stage_1.htm somewhere later in the year, probably with a MP signature snare ;D. Nice to see some drummers around these parts!

Nice to see another Harrison fan. Speaking of Portnoy, one of my biggest ever live music highlights was watching Portnoy and Martin Axenrot from Opeth having a drum off.

You can actually hear me shouting "Legolas!!!"

Wait, that was actually you recording it? I have to hate you now for seeing that live :/

Aahahahahahahahaha. :D

I must admit, I think I preferred Martin Lopez though.

Did you hear his new stuff yet? It's pretty cool, Tool-like.

Thanks for the katatoolpeth.

The lyric 'halo' reminds me of this, also from Keenan:

Good thread!

I'm on that loooooooooong break of mine still... Particularly because I'm (still) saving up for a V-Drums set. I'm looking at one of the all-mesh sets, as I hate the feel of the rubber pads. That means I'm looking at the TD-4KX2 at least. Living in close proximity of my neighbours (most with small kids / babies) means I can't have a normal kit at home. :(

As pedals go - go Axis! There's credibility in the fact that many extreme metal drummers only ever go with Axis...

Favourite drummers include Mike Portnoy (as most others have mentioned so far :p ), Rolf Pilve, Jan Axel Blomberg (aka "Hellhammer") and Pål Dæhlen (a little-known extreme metal drummer from Norway).

Chad Smith, Travis Barker, Matt Tong

I have never understood the fascination with Barker...next to ppl like carter beauford he just looks silly

I got the normal td4k2, the mesh snare is quite nice, i am not fond of the cymbals though.
The idea i think will be to purchase one of the higher end vdrum kits, and use the td4k2 for moving around for practice sessions etc.

I was looking at the axis and DW pedals...reckon i might ask for advice when i start lessons again and maybe even try demo some of them.

Trying to get back to learning gladstone techniques...its not going well :)

Carter Beauford has to be my all time fav drummer.

I currently have a Roland HD1.

Beauford is good, very good, but Harrison's better IMO. (Yes, this thread is destined to degenerate into an X vs Y vibe).

Each has his place i think.
I mean, i like beauford for his live performances, the way he gels with the band and his ease of playing (teh last 6 minutes of two step live performance just kills me )

Carey on the other hand makes overly complicated rhythms and fills just work, and i love the way he does that.

Currently, I am jamming to the new chevelle album. Not ridiculously challenging, but so much fun :)

Craig playing at V-drum champs, I love this guy!
