The DStv myth

With expensive food and drinks associated with going to a venue to watch a game, it can easily cost him more each month than his DStv subscription.
Venue being code for pub?

He could have stayed at home and gotten just as drunk, to the same point where he couldn't remember watching the game.

The article is poorly worded. Major problem here is that there's no context. For one person financial distress may be not being able to pay for their kid's education while another it's not being able to pay for the Lambo. While one person sees meat as a luxury another sees internet and dstv as one. I view it in this context.
The article was poorly conceived.

Miraculously, the article has been edited and all reference of David Kop has been removed. This is not a good look for MyBroadBand.

Trashy. The first post in this thread though does reference David and the PDF I printed for posterity also records their initial blunder. And worst of all, the piss poor financial advice stands.

Obvious issues with the unauthorized use of Mr Kop's name aside, it is also not a good look in terms of how they view the intelligence of their readership.
The whole thing is a bit disappointing.

The new article is a bland opinion piece, and definitely no longer news-worthy, TBH. There's nothing "news" in it, except that fact that DStv prices are going to be hiked (surprise).

I guess they are hoping if they ignore everyone we will forget about it.

Absolute silence?

shame
Well you did throw down the gauntlet :sneaky:

This is actually piss poor form MyBB....

Provide a retraction for the original article, and publish a new one.

To whoever is in charge:
This is disgusting. Respect your readers' intelligence. If you're an ad agency for Multichoice at least declare it.

I've reported this post.

I'm actually disgusted that MyBB has gone so far as to back the idea that spending on non essentials when in financial distress is a good idea. MyBB has come up with some wild ideas and some questionable content and articles for advertising but this one crosses the line. Someone that can't keep their finances in order already has worsening problems in life and now MyBB are willing to support spending frivalously in order for them to make some content revenue.

We all gave MyBB stick when they started posting adverts when they always said they would but they are now accepting money in return for posting content that is morally wrong.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with posting content for money.

What causes problems is posting content for money, then telling people you are independent.
