The problem is Mr Genius...noone has been arguing that PvP doesnt require skill. The argument is that it doesnt require skill to get PvP gear

It takes a great deal of skill to achieve a 2.5k arena rating...BUT you dont need a 2.5 rating to earn (lol) your welfare epics.

PVP skill is useful in both PVP and PVE. PVE skill unfortunately does not automatically transfer over to PVP skill.

The gear is just a reward for PVP'ing. How long it takes to get the gear is directly related to how well you play.

My "welfare" epics still destroy your raiding gear in PVP. Cry more

For all the the flamers (including me), I had a dream... A dream where horde and allies, pvp and pve... Okay let me shut up. PLAYING THIS GREAT GAME should have taught us one thing and that is: each class, each faction, and each pvp/pve experience all share their own merits. Blizz designed this game with an exceedingly large amount of balance involved (locks not included!).

At the end of the day, it SHOULD all come down to personal preferences. People play every single characters for different reasons and if one character dominated all aspects of the game, well all other characters wouldn't exist. People pve/pvp because of the level of commitment they can put into the game, people take things seriously while other are more casual about WoW. Are you going to argue that casual gamers suck? No. In fact we should merit casual gamers on the basis they just want to have fun.

WoW should be as far from a fanboy arena but this thread reminds me of the fanboyism of Blu-Ray vs HDDVD, PSWii60 and all other format with more than a negligible difference (i.e. Blu ray has stronger studio support, HDDVD is cheaper). All differences in WoW were supposed to be negligible and those differences were supposed to cater to one's style of play and preference.

I got my Merciless gear months ago and started leveling a hunter. I also have a mage that I'm gearing up. What happened in the last two weeks of S2 is irrelevant as I helped out other teams as they needed me.

Tbh, I don't really need a guild to PVP. The guilds I were in were for social reasons with the exception of a PVP guild here and there.

Show your armory link here or you have no footing to stand on m8. Your basement cheapshots are pretty weak considering you won't even show your character.

Its been so derailed, I dont think people are even talking about the same thing anymore hehehe.

Just dont make stupid statements like PVP players are imba and PVE'ers are only getting cool epic's because they are in l33t guilds etc. Its not the case

If anything, PVP is THE most latency dependant than any other aspect in the game, so explaining to people just how imba you are in PVP will mean jacksh!t when a n00b in green gear murders you because he is sitting on 30 ms latency. You playing a melee class, you should know exactly what I am talking about

Either way, to each his own, and play the game the way you want to.
My closing statement will just be the following... you could not reach high warlord status with pugs and paying chinese farmers.
We had a guy on our server called Yooj... he really did pay some powerleveling company to reach HWL, and sadly it never happened. They could not get him to HWL status.

Here is the URL he put after they finally gave up, and started grouping with the other warlords / high warlords...
Take note... that time on his character, was PVP game time. NO raiding. Just PVP to get HWL. He managed to get a refund from the company, and the other HWL's actually helped him to get from rank 13 -->14.
Was actually a server joke, where everyone knew when Yooj was in battlegrounds, it was a chinese dude playing his character. People made fake applications to top guilds stating Yooj's real owner is a professor in English literature and communication (since the chinese dudes couldnt speak a word english hehe)

Reaching High Warlord was probably THE biggest achievement one could reach in PVP. As it is now, the PVP system is soooo flawed, its a joke getting 2000+ personal rating using the "drainage" system.

Oh I have seen many a debate before. Just perusal to other wow discussion boards. Sometimes gets even more out of hand. Btw my hunter is finally gonna hit 70 by tomorrow/sunday. Anyone wanna offer tips about eye of the storm? No one ever talks about that place so I wanna know if its worth finally going.

EotS is pretty fast paced and requires good teamwork and strategy i.e it's an absolute dogshow in a PUG and will make you want to /wrists

As a Hunter I would suggest you follow a healer around and keep em safe. Hunter + Healer is very strong at defending a point and even better if you have a melee class to keep the enemy busy while you pew pew from range with a trap at your healers feet. Healers usually appreciate good protection

Capping flags in EotS should be a secondary concern so rather focus on holding the towers since the majority of other people will be fragging away in the middle trying to grab the flag /cry

but then again I could be completely wrong muahaha

Mostly right, except that capturing flags has been buffed recently and you can win by having one base and just capturing the flag these days.

I would recommend, as a hunter, to also try and grab a few flags. With aspect of the cheetah and slowing traps hunters make good flag carriers.

Eots sounds pretty awesome by your description especially by your admission that its fast paced. I love those sorts of pvps (hehe yesterday we had a 9 minute AV). I'll definitely take your advice into consideration and report back on the results!
