The Error Code 619 thread

New Problem... 619 Error

Ok, Vodashop came back to me, and today I went in and they replaced my faulty HSDPA card... :)

Now I seem to have a new problem... first ov all they replaced my Option card with a Novatel Merlin U740 which means more difficulty with Linux... :( but that's not the real issue, fortunately I kept the backup disks from my laptop.. so now I (ugh!) reinstalled windows..
And now the Vodafone software is reporting error 619 and simply won't connect..

Whats 619 about? Any ideas?

Thanks

A search on the forum will show many instances of this error. Have a look in the FAQ for a detailed (ish) description of Windows DUN errors.

In your case it pretty much mean you could not connect, so it's not exactly helpful.

You'll have to go through each parameter that could stopping you from connecting to eliminate it, from checking if data is enabled on the sim, to making sure you've got coverage, to checking drivers, apn settings, etc.

You can also call 155 and let them check if there are any issues in your area.

Start at a point and work methodically through the path and you should find it.

Well, it's not the sim card, as it works in my phone, it also seems unlikely to be the network as I'm able to surf on my phone...

I notice that in the bottom left hand corner of the Vodafone dashboard thingy it says: "Not Connected" and the signal shows no bars... it also says: "Acquiring" which every now and then changes to "Searching for Network" ...

Oops :o ... just discovered I had somehow set the device onto a "3G Only" profile.. and course I'm not lucky enough to have 3G  so that explains the "No signal" problem...
I now pick up a signal.. and I'm even able to send sms's from the thing... still not connecting though...

Problem resolved..

Oops again :o Now I'm really embarrassed :o

It seems that the only real problem was the one I mentioned above, where I somehow got onto a "3G only" profile...

When I was on that profile I tried a couple of simcards none of which worked...
after I corrected that problem I was only trying one of my sim cards.. a "newish" one, which infact was not data enabled ... :o lol .. stupid of me..

It working perfectly now.. :D
All I need is to figure out how to get it working under Linux...
Sorry for wasting your time V3g..

3g HSDPA connection error 619

HI

I have a 3g hspda card (merlin u740) it works well but suddenly where i live (savoy jhb) i continuously get a Error 619 when trying to connect, the error is only at my house which means there is something wrong with the tower (SAVOY ESTATE-2) as at work and in all other area the card connects fine, i have been in contact with the support guys and they agree the problem appears with the tower but that is as far as i have can go currently, no one has actually phoned me to say they are working on the problem even though they said they would.

any advice for a frustrated user

Try a 3G-Only and a GPRS-Only profile and see which one works. At least you'll be able to work while they're fixing the problem.

You can also PM me you reference number and I can check where the call is.

Error 619 in Lyttelton Centurion

I have done all the normal stuff like rebooting etc... but I still get an Error 619. Vodacom Network?

VMS
PS: I am posting this from another link.

Got better yesterday, but has again stopped working today.

So, no it is not working. Error 619 is still ruling my life.

VMS

10h28. Eventually got connected but the speed on DU meter is zero most of the time peaking with about 7kbyte/s with quite a few seconds of zero speed following that.

With antenna, plus I can actually stick my head out of the window and see the tower from here.

VMS, drop me a mail / PM with your contact details.

619 Error

I am sure this was covered before but can't find the info.
What is this 619 error and how do we get rid of it?
Thanks

It means Rey Mysterio has kicked your connection to the curb. Better call The Undertaker to clear up the situation :)

619 is an authentication error from the server's side. This can be as a result of poor signal, account suspended, server "broken" etal. As far as Im concerned the 619s we're getting now is because of the "broken" system at Vodacom at present.

Been getting the dreaded 619 & 31 's all day long.

This morning it would only connect but zero throughput.

Also something funky going on with the VMC software. Every time I disconnect and reconnect my usage jumps by 10 or more MB.

I have barely sent any mail and have not downloaded anything other than AVG update and my tally for the day is sitting at 70MB.

The traffic in Netlimiter adds up to 24MB .........

I have always said that the billing system is screwed and skewed in VC's favour.
