Guys, can we post all Fallout 3 related stuff here?

We are creating so many threads (I'm guilty of this too) but hopefully, with this thread, we can have a centralized spot for everything Fallout 3 related.

Maybe a MOD can merge all the other threads into this one? Just a thought!

Fallout 4 -> 2011 ?!?

Rumors have it BTW that Fallout 4 will arrive by 2011!

Here is the story:

What we heard: It's been all of 10 years since Interplay and Black Isle Studio's Fallout 2 arrived to rapt critical reception for the PC. And if executive producer Todd Howard has his way, fans of the franchise shouldn't have to wait another decade after Fallout 3 for another postapocalyptic role-playing fix.

Speaking to Reuters, Howard addressed the franchise's long absence from the gaming scene, saying the latest installment has been too long in coming. "I think it's good for people to miss things," he said. "Ten years between Fallout is a bit long, but I think there's this nostalgia factor."

And then things get a little screwy. Seemingly unaware of the average gamers' excitability factor, Reuters then floated mention of "Fallout 4," and paraphrased the game's executive producer as saying, "he believes three years is a good time frame between games." Not unexpectedly, this one-two combo exploded with its own atomic ferocity across many a gaming Web site, with the common consensus being that Howard had confirmed Fallout 3's successor as being a mere three years off.

The official story: "He wasn't trying to say anything about how long it will be between the Fallout 3 and the next one," said a Bethesda Softworks representative. "Rather, it was a comment about the fact that 10 years was too long between the last Fallout games and Fallout 3. We aren't setting any kind of timeframe or timetable for the next Fallout. We haven't even released this one yet, though at least we're now very, very close."

Bogus or not bogus?: Bogus...that a date is officially confirmed. However, given the massive hype, decade-long anticipation, and amount of critical praise Fallout 3 has already received, a sequel looks likely. Keep in mind, though, there was a four-year gap between Elder Scrolls III and IV.

I really hope the fourth one has a bit more "action-reaction" effects to it. But *rubs greedy paws together* I'll get it anyway :D

SOME HINTS / TIPS:

V.A.T.S. Spotting

If you’re heading into seemingly-hostile territory or simply want to survey the area around you for enemies you might not yet see, try hitting the VATS button over and over again as you make your character turn around, searching all angles. Doing so will alert you to any enemies you may not yet see by zooming in on them in VATS mode. You’ll realistically be unable to do damage to your foes from such a distance, but it’s a good way to spot foes before they spot you so you know what you’re getting yourself into before the crap hits the fan.

Hacking Indefinitely

Here’s a great tip (though it will be obvious for some people).When you hack a computer in the game, you have four tries to hack it successfully. If you don’t hack it successfully on the fourth attempt (as in, you don’t guess the proper password), the station you’re trying to hack will permanently shut down. But if you only try three times and bail out of the process before trying for a fourth time, the password will reset, giving you three more options. You can do this indefinitely without risking shutting the terminal down.

...will add more as I find them! ;)

Keep checking www.tweakguides.com for a Fallout 3 tweakguide due out soon.

Don't know about the rest of you, but Fallout 3 runs like a dream on my PC, even with most stuff up (I think I only turned shadows off) so I don't think I'll need to tweak it at all, except for maybe installing the latest NVidia drivers for my 8800 GTS :D

This game reminds me ALOT of Oblivion....

Probably because;

1. Made by the same people
2. Uses the same "if not better" engine
3. It's referred to as "Oblivion with guns" by the DEV team
4. You said this in a previous thread! :mad:

This game reminds me ALOT of Oblivion....

That's a bit harsh. I prefer Elder Scrolls V: Fallout.

My CE got delivered today. It's sitting on my desk at work.

What's the word on a modding tool? Can't wait till some user mods are released. Any light shed on the DLC Bethesda has planned?

Ok making my Character i think i did it wrong will have to restart at lvl 10 atm.
Just dont get all the skill points i need cause my Intel thinking of maxing out my intel early in the game will get me ALOT more skill pionts later.
Since it looks like theres just 20 lvls?And ill take the educated perk early.

By doing this i think ill be able to get high up in skills and will use my training perk to bbring in some Str ,Aglity and Perception.

What do you guys think seem like perception does not make diffrence in vats with hit chance i maybe wrong.

@ Boomrooker - Perception played a part in the original Fallouts regarding the accuracy of ranged weapons, so I'm guessing it's the same :)

@ gdiza - Soooooon :D :D :D

1 hour 20 minutes later... still nothing, I'm going outta my mind!

Take2 delivers faster than this man!

lol!

Shamelessly stolen from the somethingawful.com forums:

Wiki for quest spoilers: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_3_quests

Performance problems with HT/Dual-/Quadcore processors:
1) Find FALLOUT.ini in My Documents\My Games\Fallout 3.
2) Make a backup.
3) Change the following settings as so:
iNumHavokThreads=5
bUseMultiThreadedFaceGen=1
bUseMultiThreadedTrees=1
bMultiThreadAudio=1
bUseThreadedAI=1
bUseThreadedTempEffects=1
bUseThreadedParticleSystem=1
bUseThreadedBlood=1
bUseThreadedMorpher=1

DON'T change ifpsclamp, as was previously stated.

Link for the manual: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=6p9132av

And of course, very useful when deciding on S.P.E.C.I.A.L stats:
STR: Each rank gives 2 points to Melee Weapon skill, and .5 Melee Damage. Lowest carry weight 160 lbs, max carry weight at 10 STR, 250 lbs.

PER: Each rank gives 2 points toward Energy Weapons, Explosives, and Lockpick.

END: Each rank gives 2 points toward Big Guns, Unarmed. Lowest possible base hps 120, highest at END 10, 300.

CHA: Each rank gives 2 points toward Barter, Speech.

INT: Each rank gives 2 points toward Medicine, Repair, Science.

AGI: Each rank gives 2 points toward Small Guns, Sneak.

LUCK: Each rank gives 1% bonus critical as well as 0.5 points toward all skills.

This game is awesome. Just wish I could get an GFX upgrade to run this at full
