Time to look for cheaper transport. It costs me just under R700 to fill my tank. I'm lucky if I get 450km on the same tank. It gets worse every month. FML

700 for a tank? I hate you..
I'm knocking on 1000 per tank ATM and this increase will push it over that. Time to contemplate buying a second much smaller car just to so the work run
Indeed, he could get 6.5 to 7l/100km from say a Ford Figo, instead of his current 11.5l/100km.
A VW 1.9TDi can give him 4.5 to 5km/100l or 4.3/100km from a 1.4 Citroen C3.
But yes, one has to do the sums on how long it would take for the fuel economy to be worth spending money on another vehicle and that all depends on how far he drive on average a day.

Must have a big tank, but one needs to know how much kms you get out of the tank for it to be relevant, but I assume its heavy.
I bought a smaller car. It backfired. The consumption is worse than on my ml320 :O

75l tank... Gets 70l most of the time... Get around 650 a tank. The joys of driving a huge ass 2.5l diesel double cab over 60kms per day just to get to and from work
Ranger is it? I would love an older 4l for holidays. And my commute is 100km per day :/
Anyway, I think the price will go to R15 per litre, demand for oil will increase, and thus its price, as the developed worlds stumbles back into growth.
Mazda drifter... So a rebadged ranger
Agreed would also love one of the old 4l beasts.
R15 a liter is gonna hurt but hey there is not much we can do about it except make plans. I'm already doing a lift club, will just have to expand it I reckon
I think it's more a contributor to the slow growth, than any crash. My one theory is that the high oil price contributed to the economic crisis in 2008.
