Getting a welding helmet is going to give you much better results than just welding with your eyes closed the whole time...:p

Mig is the easiest way to weld by a million miles.

Tig takes the longest to get right.

But it's like riding a bike. Once you have mastered the skill it's pretty easy.
MIG provides a good clean finish, but it carries additional cost of renting CO2 or Argon bottles. ;)

What do you guys do with regards to a toilet when you have people working at your place, specifically outside.

I have guys working on my gates and paving the next week, but I also have a dog that lets no one in the house. Coordinating letting the guys use the toilet with my dog and between meetings all day is gonna be a nightmare.

Should I rent a toilet or is it not my problem?

Largely it depends on if your acting as the "contractor" or not.

If you've sourced guys to do the work yourself, then hire a toilet, if you're paying a company (even a one man band type setup) to do the work, then its their problem to sort out.

Last time I rented it was R500 per week

That seems a bit high. Was it because you took it for a short period?

Around here the going rate is about R1000/month and it gets cleaned once a week.

Whats the mess situation like when changing old wooden windows to aluminium. Not too bad (a quick vacuum) or I need to move everything out?

I recently changed some iron windows to alu doors. Mess wasn't too bad. I just covered everything with blankets and vacuumed/mopped after.
