What was the costs of that?
They where double opening doors with parliament hinges and side lights.

Total cost was about R19k including installation, but not finishing. So I had to fix the floor and move a power point, paint and so on.

I would need steel double doors replaced as the old steel is horribly sealed. R19k would be the stripping and breaking out of the bricks. Not to bad considering

It's taken a year but I finally don't need to get out of my car to open my gate anymore!

This D5 smart is blazing fast compared to the ancient thing I had before.

So, your legs?
I had a motor before that the previous builders pulled a cement mixer over... but yes, the motor is faster than my legs too

Going to gym in the morning in winter was the worst, getting out the car to close the gate.

You can also get new aluminum doors made to fit the opening of the steel door. There is no need to break the wall. :)

I need an outdoor gate custom made and installed. Open to ideas but probably metal frame with wooden slats.

I'm in C.T. Any recommendations for a company to do so?

So far two companies off Google haven't bothered to respond.

I needed one gate repaired (it was getting stuck) and the other gate needs a whole new track laid along with servicing and installing nutek sheeting on it. I contacted 6 people, 3 came out to quote and one actually gave me a quote. Of R14k.

I ended up fixing my first gate myself and I'll lay the new track and do all that for the other gate when I'm done with the bathroom.

Labour in cape town is insanely expensive and its just as hard to get people to do the actual work.

I've been hearing the same thing all around.
Everyone is retrenched due to covid etc etc but when you do need work done nobody even responds to the initial email?

Same problem with people and their work ethic. I needed my gate motor replaced and the track replaced, which is a whole concrete exercise.

I must have made contact with 5 places, all useless at responding and sticking to appointments. Eventually I had to bite the bullet and get Magnador to do it. Cost me R10k for something that should have cost me maybe R6k... But it's done.

These smaller guys all have terrible work ethic, and worst is they suck you into their life drama. Their fish drowns and suddenly you need to feel sorry for them and have compassion for their failure to do the fkn job they were paid for.

R30k for the same brick pavers you see on the right.
Includes rubble removal, which some guys like to leave off the quote.

Thats actually a pretty damn decent price for that type of paver from what I've been able to work out...

Gives me hope that I'm not going to be bled completely dry when I do approach that bit of work.
