Have a similar problem with the push to open stuff and shyte being out of alignment in my kitchen....

I have ideas on how to fix some of the issues myself, and I did replace all the drawer runners a little while ago to make things work better and its help a bit.

If money was no object I would have gone with Blum fittings but that would have nearly doubled the cost of the kitchen and I couldn't justify that at all.

Maybe you can buy one or two and give the diy route a go, they are expensive though, but probably cheaper than redoing the whole kitchen.

Its almost 3-years since we did the kitchen - so I don't mind spending a bit more replacing the fittings with something better.

To give you an idea of the cost difference..

My kitchen is in a 40 odd sqm space, and its fscking massive and was around R100k....
The granny flat kitchen my folks redid is in a 18sqm space (maybe) and was around R80k...

biggest difference in terms of the cabinets and such (other than the quantity) was the Blum fittings and such...

Does anyone have old metal conduit (which itself carries the earth) that transitions to newer pvc conduit with an earth wire?

I'm wondering how one would do this correctly without replacing all the metal conduit and pulling an earth straight from the db board again..

The old man's place has metal conduit, most of the earths are pulled through though( at least what I have had open) , but I would assume that a crimped terminal to a screw or other good place would work.

Came right - got a plumber doing some work for me on Tueday, asked him to be buy me roll.

My energiser has burnt out needs to be replaced.

Currently have the nemtek m18s and can replace with the same or change to the druid 18 which has the same output but an LCD screen on the unit itself.

Cost is about R600 more for the druid.

What do you recommend

The druid is what was recommended for my install. I think as long as parts are available locally, you're good

With all permits in place I’ve just taken lockdown as a holiday. Gave away plenty materials so that the wife couldn’t keep me busy at home hahaha

For those that have done kitchens - where is the expense mainly ? Labour ?

I have a small kitchen (4m x 3m wall to wall) and my neighbour redid hers 5 years back at R70k (!) - I know a few others with small kitchen that have also paid R50k+ for a refurbishment. On a non-expensive cluster like mine, that's really overcapitalizing ... but thought just new cupboards and/or counter tops may be 'cheap' and a decent refresh ?

6k to strip and lay 12sqm of tiles? Or was that including the tiles, the grouting, the cement and such?

Just the labour and wasn't just the floor, included tiling the wall as well, to the same height as the bottom of the top cupboards..

Ah yeah okay wall tiling is different as that is basically another floor x 4 :-(
