Not yet, bought the house with steel windows that don't close properly anymore. Looking at installing aluminium windows with laminated glass. I'm sick of hearing my neighbours dog barking throughout the night

Yep, I remember you mentioned that to me earlier so the quotes I got was to cover the entire frame and not just the openings.

I think the armed bars are going to be out of budget and I can always add these at a later stage.

Seems like the horizontal bars are going to be the better option in this case as they will be drilled into the wall.
Ah sorry, didn't realise you were the one that asked previously.

Looks very fancy but is it not extremely cold in there with all those tiles?

Will find out this winter :giggle:

It wasn't cold in the house or bathrooms last night and it was cold in Cape Town yetserday and this morning.

My one bathroom has tile floor to roof and that thing is an ice block in winter but nice in summer.

The floor was ice cold this morning. You don't think of these things when doing the reno. My plan is to get the infra red heater.

My parents have it and works amazing.

Yes I have seen that at builders and its very nice. Just wondering how much electricity it uses.

I've picked up that this year - with making our house more open plan - its ^#$^%$@# cold. So now I'm on a renovation path again... want to find a fire place big enough to warm a good portion of the house - bedrooms have aircons for heating.

Plan is to remove our old bar - put in a smaller bar - and put in some sort of fireplace in the lounge.

A fireplace is also on my list, the list never ends :X3:

There is also so much unplanned things that come up during and after the reno.

Anyone have any experience in DIY downlights? Am looking to redo the lighting in my spot after the roof insulation was replaced and have been looking to install downlights for a while. Will also look to DIY cable rails inside the ceiling for all the various cables going through while I am at it. Anything that I need to keep in mid re installing etc?

Fireplace will get expensive to heat a big open plan space...

I costed up a decent closed combustion one and it was somewhere in the region of R20k just for the unit....

Honestly, I'm considering large aircons for the open place space instead.
