Anyone familiar with FGV drawer runners?

I've installed a few here. I struggled to get the height right, but the draw is old and i think some of the screw holes are not as tight as they should be. I considered drilling my own additional screw holes, but we'd like to replace the entire cupboard at some stage so I didn't want to go to that much effort.

Yeh, been quoted on 35Kg FGV soft close runners to replace our existing no-name push to open.
Ah, can't help in that case.. I bought some gelmar brand push to open soft close runners for an upcoming project, so will see how well they fare.. if they are anything like the soft close ones I used in my previous kitchen, I expect them to be solid for a long time.. and they are inexpensive.. 78 bucks for a 450mm length, not sure of weight rating..

I replaced some of the no-name ones with Gelmar push-to-open - they've been ok - but also eventually fail. Think its a combination of the open roller bearings, and plastic clips, definetly better than the **** that was put in.

Problem is - I can't find much on FGV - not even pricing as an indication of perceived quality.

Anyone done a remodel of an existing pool care to share experiences?

We currently have a semi clover shaped pool and the wife has planted the idea of transforming it into more of a rectangle.

My initial reaction is that we're basically going to end up ripping up the entire existing pool and rebuilding a new one from scratch. Don't see how you wouldn't end up with leaks eventually without doing this.

Photo of existing pool below, yes it's dirty, was away for a few days so neither pool guys or gardener were around.

That's gorgeous, it looks far more natural than a rectangle.

its completely possible, but it will cost a pretty penny. Depending if you want to go smaller or bigger they will dig it out or fill it in with a structural wall, new fibreglass coating etc, new plumbing. it is essentially a new pool bar them not having to evacuate such a large hole

see my pool above in my pics, i wanted to make it smaller, and kinda decided its just not worth it, would rather just redo the lining and enjoy it.

/in before the close it up and stop wasting your money bregade

Any recommendation who to contact in Cape Town to vacuum my roof/ceiling cavity at an affordable price?

I intend to DIY roof insulation. However, the vacuuming of the current dust/sand/spiders/etc is most definitely not a task I have the means to DIY without causing a bigger mess.

Roofrats - have not used them but prices seems fair

I used roofrats, was really happy with their team overall, pro's and con's:

Pro's
  • Guys worked neatly when moving through my house, kept all rubble together and left my yard spotless
  • They asked if they could remove an old geyser that was still in my roof, they then charged me afterwards for it which was a surprise. When I let the owner know he immediately apologised for the confusion and removed the charge without further question.
  • The "floor" of roof space was near spotless when they were done
  • Great service
Con's
  • They damaged the trap door when they got the geyser out, they didn't want to remove roof tiles as they didn't want to introduce leaks. The owner quickly arranged for someone to come out the next week to fix the trapdoor and repaint around it.
  • They didn't brush down the trusses, so while the "floor" was clean the trusses had a lot of dirt of them. Just ask them specifically to do that.

Thanks for the feedback and the heads up re the trusses.
Are you in CPT? If I may, what was their price per square meter?

I didn't go ahead with their insulation, so can't tell you what type/quality they would have used for this price.

i was interested in this but i feel like i will just do it myself in 1 day and save myself like >R3k
While I happily do a lot myself, this is maybe one thing I'd pay for again rather than doing it myself.
They were about 6 guys, with maybe 3 small vacuum cleaners. Took them 1.5 days to do my modest sized house and bags and bags of dirt.

Coming down from the roof to empty the vacuum every 15 minutes would be tiring, and doing this in the ceiling all the time would be uncomfortable. Depends on how dirty it is up there, and how clean you want it though.

2 days to vacuum, 5 days recovery for back pain... no thanks:)
It also creates a bit of dust in the house, through the smallest of cracks around light fixtures and ventilation things.

Up to you though, it's not a difficult job - just requires a level of fitness and stamina.
