Out of curiosity, anybody come across or seen, heard, have gotten quotes on either of these two building solutions..?

i almost bought a house that had an extension done like this, whatever you do make sure whoever does it knows what they are doing.

Anyone in CPT keen to buy a garage door? Should have all the parts and everything.
Was working 100% before I removed it 2 weeks ago (just a bit dirty now from the building)

Will need to double check the size.
If not, what should I put it on gumtree for?

Which version..? Concretex or kwikframe..? The concretex I have hard time seeing being able to in to an existing structure properly.. kwikframe seems more feasible to tie in well..

Is it a roll up or fixed panel..? Looks fixed from the pics.. get me the dimensions as well and price..

Somerset West. The issue is that we are going get more soil erosion on the slope if we take the roots out, and it’s likely going to be difficult to avoid problems with the wall that is right there.

Is the quote reasonable?
Check the arborists' actual insurance contract -- the fine print.

I'm going to laying new conduit down my driveway, one for a few cat6 cables for CCTV and intercom at the front gate, and one conduit for 220v for my new gate motor.

My gate intercom uses goes onto my LAN, so no fiddly telephone wires, but I'm thinking to use the remote receiver that's in my house that I'm using for my alarm currently.

Should I pull an extra cat6 for the remote receiver? Or should I use a different type of wire for this? The length of the whole run will be about 35 meters. Or... should I keep the remote receiver as close to the motor as possible?
Why do you want to do Cat-6? You'll have additional earthing reqs, both ends as per IEEE standards. And more lightning risks. Can you accomplish the same with CAT 5e?

Awesome, thanks..
Measured quickly now when I took my dog out.. 250cm wide, 215cm height.
May be out by a cm or two, can check more accurately tomorrow if need be.

Edit: Maybe around R1500 - not sure if that's reasonable. Open to offer if you keen

I'm no cable expert, hence asking. I have both Cat6 and Cat5e cables so could run either. But I'm running Cat6 UTP for CCTV and intercom, wouldn't really want to run Cat5e as well unless I need to.

But, given other feedback I'm probably just going to install my remote receiver at the gate.

Aah, that is too bad.. my garage opening is 5cm larger both in width and height..

That's about 64kbps with a decent codec, hardly the limit of Cat 5. Personally, I see it the other way around, I wouldn't lay Cat 6 unless I really need to, because the extra cost simply isn't justified.

Other than the extra cost of the cable, what other costs are there?

ah man... pity, would have been nice to sell to someone here instead of going the gumtree route.

Any recommendations on a tiler in Gauteng. We did renovations last year and we have changed our mind about the mosaic. We want to remove and install new ones. I also have a frame less shower so that will probably have to be removed for the job.

Been a while, work is killing me lately.

So the site I was busy at before and after lockdown had some parts built with a similar thing to concretex (can’t say for sure who did it. House had damp issues. From what I could tell it looked like it was not sealed properly at any “joins”. The damp issues was quite an issue especially considering the house was bought at just over 6mil. Unfortunately he bought in summer and the house was clearly touched up for the purpose of the sale so no signs of damp anywhere.
We’ve done as much as we could to try and stop issues but there were certain places we could do nothing and o had explained it to him. He understood and after the storms has confirmed that the areas we did were all good for now. Before we worked on the place any light rain would cause damp issues inside.

the worst part was that he painted inside first and then we furnished the place as well. When the rains came inside was completely screwed and we had to redo it after we fixed up the issues... lucky for him I wasn’t an a-hole and gave him a huge discount where I didn’t see much money for myself, however the relationship was more important in this instance.

The hassle of getting the fatter wires into the connectors and limited bend radius for UTP, but far more so for STP, and then there's the capacitance issues and extra grounding with STP. IMHO Cat 5e is just easier to work with, and I would use it if the application does not benefit from the extra bandwidth.

Not sure if possible for him, but won't it be easier to just install a smart switch somewhere at the gate and only have one Cat5e cable run to the gate and split from there to the cctv and the intercom?
