Could be, house was rented out previously. Door frames also looked k@k. Made me nauseous! Once we painted the walls they really stood out like a sore thumb lol

Could have been a colour that was fashionable back when Jesus was in high school. Smoke wouldn't cause all the frames and doors to deteriorate equally, it's usually limited to a few hot spots and usually the ceilings get it the worst. Also could just be wear from years of neglect.

New paint is always the quickest fix to making the place look new and fresh again...

Learned folk need some help with my lawn.

Have the below growing need to work out best approach to remove and get grass growing again. Just pull it out or get some sort of weed killer?

This area doesn't get great light, in quite a bit of shade.

Should I get Kikuyu grass for this area? The rest is standard lawn.

Trick to grass, don't cut it to often, when doing so you actually prevent it from taking root and allowing weeds to easily take over.

Kikuyu doesn't like shade.. lm Berea is better suited for shady areas..

Years of neglect is certainly one way to describe this house...previous owner did the absolute bare minimum. Lazy bastard.

Luckily we knew this going in and in part why we bought it as we basically gutted and replaced the entire inside

Will mow less and check out Berea. Whats best way to get rid of the current stuff growing there? Are these weeds or something else?

Got exactly the same weeds/clover where the kikuyu stops growing under the all the tree shade lines. Gardener just lightly digs a few inches of soil with a fork to loosen, then removes roots and all.

I got some semi-shade/shade grass seed for those areas, now waiting for it to grow.

We mow the kikuyu weekly, but not short, mid to high on the mower

If there is grass in between the weeds that yo want to keep, use a selective broad leaf weed killer, like Hormoban, Banweed, Turfweeder or MCPA. It will kill the weeds but won't kill the grass, it just gets yellow but goes green again.

If you want to get rid of all of it, and plant new grass, then use a non-selective weed killer based on Glyphosate. It will kill everything that is green. It will kill you too, if you inhale the fumes, it's carcinogenic, so read the label, follow instructions, take care, wear gloves and a proper mask.

LM Berea. LM stands for Lourenço Marques, the former capital of Mozambique. This grass is also very popular in Mpumalanga for under trees. Not as tolerant of foot traffic as Kikuyu, and needs more water, but without a doubt the best grass for shade.

Me again with paving question.
What's the going rate per square for normal grey paving ?

I need to paint my palisade fencing. Any idea on what paint I can use to give it that same matte green finish?

I'm looking for a free (online) tool to design kitchen and Bathroom. I tried The Duravit tool, but they give you specific items (cant change dimensions of a bath for example)

The PG bison tool don't do Bathrooms - so they won't have baths, toilets etc.

Can any1 assist?
