Whats the recommend place to buy bathroom hardware? Things like toilets, bath, taps, mixers etc - standard stuff not fancy free standing baths and stuff like that. I'm not necessarily looking for top of the range quality. I'm trying to balance affordability and quality.
I found decent pricing from Plumb It Online.

I've bought 4 mixers from them, basins, sinks plus other attachments. Only issue so far has been a faulty cartridge on one mixer which they came out and swapped without any fee or hassle.

Thanks, I've seen their website and their prices are decent. But I've never used them, so wasn't sure. Thanks again!

Help please guys, my pool looks beautiful but I'm using 3 cups of chlorine a DAY :( I had the water tested at the pool shop and all levels are good except acid - added 2l and chlorine, added 5 cups!!!

It's been storming every day in Randburg and the pool shop says everyone else's pool is green.

P.S. Those strips also show all levels are good except NO chlorine??

If your pool is beautiful then don't stress. Get the hth floater plus and just worry if you start seeing signs of algae.
I struggle to get my chlorine levels to stay up and just with floater keep my pool beautiful

Burning through that much and it's still showing none, your CYA is off. Though if it's clean and blue, I'd get a floater and once a week use some pool magic

Thanks Lupus, what's CYA? Does that mean the pool needs acid or alcalinity?

Seems as if I need a floater, will take your advice and that of @Fcon_Vpro and get one during the week. Looked into Pool Magic when we last spoke and will use it this weekend.

cyanauric acid which is stabilizer, it mustn't be to high or to low

Ah, OK I'll ask the pool shop for one/some - good idea
The floater I recommeded has it in already. Its something you have to do slowly because if you put in too much stabilizer then you have to pretty much drain 2/3 - 3/4 of your pool water and pump in new water as theres no way to lower the stabilizer level. It will render your chlorine completely useless

It should show on the test strip if you have any in the pool.
Oh right - that one is slightly pale.

I can't test now because we're 20 minutes into our afternoon donder en bliksem but will have a look tomorrow.

Yikes!!!!! Will take note of this, don't want to overcompensate o_O

Get a packet of hth stabilizer and sprinkle it around the sides of the pool. This is the thing that helps protect the chlorine from sunlights, sunscreen etc. If you have none or very little, the sun will destroy the chlorine daily.

When a lot of fresh water enters the pool it dilutes the stabilizer which I assume happened in your case.

That might have been the acid the pool company said to use? As if it's hydrolic they normally would say your pH is too high you need acid to bring it down

Possibly, we've had so much rain lately.

I’ve always wondered about this as an option be starting a solar build, to be added on over time. Costs way more but you will get the added benefit over time in case you would already need one.

Those prices seem about normal from my own enquiries. Just make sure it has all other peripheral controllers and others.

Thank you guys. The pool shop tested and said I should "keep adding 3 cups chlorine a day" - HUH? I told them a friend said to test the stabiliserr - oh no he hadn't done that. Tested it and you were correct - no stabiliser.

The shop boss was out and this was a young trainee so I didn't throw my toys.

There's no right or wrong way to start a solar build, sooner or later you have to take some kind of plunge.

I left the geyser for last and went straight to solar. Geyser doesn't help you during load shedding. And you can always use your system to power the geyser during the day, and only rely on Eskom for the night. That alone will result in substantial savings...

Plumblink have a physical store in Midrand just off Allandale, if you’re still uneasy. It’s for tradies so don’t be put off by the no CTM glitz.

Also Plumb-it is also pretty good, and just down the road from the Centurion branch of Plumblink & I’ve gotten same day delivery from them before…
