I'm so glad my tiling was done by a true professional. Everything flowed right, the tiles were perfect, and floors were level. Any issues, he spoke to me. And then he supervised the guys doing the paving too, and got them to do the work correctly.

Patio roof finally done. Ended up being a palava. Think I should have just painted the ceiling.

Labour costs : 4.5k
Material costs : 23k (ceiling boards, 4*5m polycarb IBR sheets , isotherm metal work for the larger prismatic diffusers , 2 sets of prismatic diffusers cos the first method they tried cracked the each sheet which cost 800 each ), paint , water proofing , lights, etc )

Then they fscked up the IBR sheeting by replacing the wrong one on one side so it was not aligned with the metal work for diffuser), I only saw it the next day

It's not perfect at all, but learnt my lesson. Next time use a 'professional' company who does the sourcing and will be responsible for the f ups .

Driving around to find things cost more as i pay a premium for delivery, etc.

Using the labourers (he is good except for the f up about the IBR sheet placement), made everything my problem

The positives :- it's now much brighter and loads of light in the rooms too IMG_20221009_063022.jpgIMG_20220908_081839.jpg

10 days should be ample to remove walls & tiles for a typical 1 BR flat. Renovation estimate is tricky. At times, project gets prolonged due to other unforeseen expenses but usually lack of proper budgeting.
I see they have removed walls from the bathroom kitchen balcony and its still 3 months to go till this is done.

The tiles in my kitchen would've been fine, if I didn't have a dog who decided she's just going to walk all over them, so some of them she pushed down sigh. Otherwise it came out nice.

Has anyone had a frameless shower installed ?

I’ve got a 2mx1m shower at a height of 2.4m and just got a quote for R15k installed. Does that seem within reason?

mmh full shower or just the walking shower type ....if the latter should be r500 all in .....if full shower that amount is quite high very high

The house painting and maintenance is almost done. The painting is done just a few other jobs are still left. Also installed these Damp Vents. My neighbor has one of those creeping plants that grow dat die kak spat on the other side of the wall. I suspect his side of the wall is completely fscked by that plant. So all the moisture keeps on coming through the wall and making bubbles on my side, sort of like a rising damp problem.

All the holes we drilled the material coming out was wet. the vent plugs are cheap enough to try. If they don't work so be it.

Lawn reno also coming along nicely.

So it’s enclosed. Solid sides plus door. My walk in experience pretty much said to me they don’t work.

Yes, walk-in showers are toss. I have 3 of them. Closed mine up in the main bedroom. Other 2 not being used.

Hi.
Does anyone have experience with this roof paint?
I need to paint a 640m2 roof with a very limited budget, but dont want to buy crap that will only last a year... If it lasts 8 years as per the warrantee I would be happy.

Yep,, I can only suggest this ,where did you buy it, ask for that company e.g Italtile , Ctm installer to do it for you that way you are covered also NB make sure your tiles /Walls are all level!! learnt the hard way ..

I recently painted a grey IBR roof with Dulux Roofguard. I washed the roof with a power washer beforehand and treated all rust etc. Time will tell how long it will hold up. I am a again of Dulux products. Make sure you do proper prep work and not just go up and sommer paint over the old stuff. Decent prep goes a long way.

The pricing seems way off. They fscking us over if you look at the price of 5L compared to 20L. Just crazy.

Bite the bullet and get Plascon Nuroof. I did my tiled roof in 2016 and it still looks like new. Cheap paint is seldom a bargain...

Yeah mate, discovered after my built in wardrobes that the ceiling in one room isn’t quite true. Slight slope and barely noticeable but I know it’s there.

This is buying the whole lot. So the installer buys all the fittings and material, along with the glass which he’ll get polished. This is for 10mm Toughened safety glass, which I sort of feel might be excessive since I’ve had 8mm before in my previous walk in which was purchased from LeroyMerlin. My previous calcs from the Premium aluminium site indicate a price of R1440/sqm so R10360 before labour or fittings, so it’s starting to look not too unreasonable. I was just taken aback because I had gotten a quote on 8mm glass and that came to R5k, but I realised later it wasn’t TSG.

I got a quote 2 weeks ago for a 1.2m x .9m shower - R12k excluding installation, but they use Aluglass.

Can't see properly but that looks like ivy on your neighbour's side - it grows like crazy and can become invasive so you need to cut back regularly on top of your wall.
