TIL you can't just go into a retailer to buy a few drawers with sliders. Only Leroy Merlin seems to sell them but too expensive.

New place hasn't got enough kitchen drawers so I wanted to screw sliders into the cupboard sides (where the shelf support holes are) and slide drawers in.

Why on earth aren't these available off the shelf - just a few standard sizes - 400mm, 450mm and maybe 500?

Not sure where you're based, but the guys at TimBuild in Strydom Park Randburg have always been helpful when I needed drawers for units. Used them for years and they were always reasonable in price.
They seem to have standard sizes in packs now (versus separate components), but they may be able to supply the drawer sections only - give them a shout

I swear TB it's a case of being forced into DIY because I live on my own

BIL helps too :)

But just for reference, so you don't necessarily have to go trawling Gelmar..

These are the "baskets" I was referring to : https://www.gelmar.co.za/base-mounted-pull-out-3-tier-chrome-plated-400-unit.html

And these were the drawers I was talking of : https://www.gelmar.co.za/starbox-soft-close-drawer-500mm-white.html
Yes they need a front and back it seems, but should be easier than making everything yourself.

Your other option is a place called Fit : www.fitsales.co.za they may have something for you.

That 3 tier unit looks good, it's the right size too - what a win, tks TB.

Fitsales have some nice stuff too.

OMW that couldn't be more convenient, I'm a 15 minute drive away :)

Site looks cool but lack of prices means it is not affordable for my kind. :p

I actually contacted them a few years ago, and their stuff isn't horribly priced.. it is generally the good quality stuff so more expensive than Gelmar of course.

Yeah, I will not take chances. Once I entered a shop that had no price tags and when asked for a slippers price, she told me 800 rands. For a flipping slipper I wear at home.

Shop was in mall of Africa. I am sure it is closed now. Havana or something.

You can see it's quality stuff but it's good to have a choice and if prices aren't outrageous you can sacrifice something small and pay more for quality.

Like bathroom vanities that look OK until you see them in the flesh, then the sides don't line up, raw chipboard inside, drawers don't slide  so my choice was to buy a small but relatively expensive vanity - hope it lasts

Yes, Havana but they're still popular

All vanities are po3s expensive these days... redoing my bathroom, and the vanity (without basin or top) was R5k near as damnit.

So, our washing machine is on the floor in the corner of garage. It needs to lifted up to make room for easy entrance (don't ask, it just has to be done) for the car.

Is it possible ? I don't know if a very stable platform can be created to account for all the movement of washing machine.
