Leather gloves and by hand tbh. But I saw a pump (similar to a prawn pump) at Brights last year. Wasn't worth the cost vs how often it would be used. Some may think differently about that though. When I was in high school our pool filter had the membrane filters that had to be washed and then treated with diatomaceous earth. Endless hassles to get the thing to seal properly. I far prefer the sand filters.
