Leather gloves and by hand tbh. But I saw a pump (similar to a prawn pump) at Brights last year. Wasn't worth the cost vs how often it would be used. Some may think differently about that though. When I was in high school our pool filter had the membrane filters that had to be washed and then treated with diatomaceous earth. Endless hassles to get the thing to seal properly. I far prefer the sand filters.

i backwashed it now nicely i think i didnt backwash enough

seems like maybe that worked

How long did you backwash for and how big is your pool? Ideally you would start the backwash and then watch the water coming out until its no longer dirty water coming out, thats if you can see the water coming out.

.......... and then don't forget to rinse.

Well our pool is bigger than that tiny splash pool in the video.

The roll up is where I get lazy. That unrill trick will definitely help if it works as well on the bigger pool.
Yeah, mines had 8-9 of those poles and the pool is a wierd shape and at least 6m in one section.

Two years ago , after taking it off (half of it) and it sinking into pool, decided then and there to dump it and it was never put back on. 16k down the drain. Still have the aluminium poles.

Now have a leaf net catcher cover that is better to handle.

a hot water question,

I live in a block of flats and my hot water has stopped coming out of the tap.

does this mean the water has been turned off? I don't think its a problem with the geyser?

thanks

If the water has been turned off, you would also have no cold water coming out of the tap..

Anyone care to enlighten me about cordless drills?

The upcoming house move seems like an ideal excuse to finally get a proper new drill to replace my existing entry-level Bosch.

Would this be of interest maybe?

i have want to increase the value of my property im either going to add another bedroom or another living room which one is more likely to increase the value?

no the hot and cold water come from different pipes, I know this for a fact because the hot water pipe rusted and needed to be replaced in 2020.
I am going to hold my tongue and explain this rather..

Your building has a single source of water.. this single source of water feeds your geyser AND your cold water taps.. your rusty hot water pipe having been replaced does not mean you have multiple sources of water, such that if one were off, you would still have water coming from the other tap..

So, if you indeed have cold water still running from your tap, but no hot water, you should have a plumber check out the inlet on the geyser for issues..

anyone aware of a fogger that'll work for ants that I can use in the roof? Most I've looked at seem to be sensitive to electrical connections - and we have a ton of downlights - and also bad electrical wiring up there.

I've had two pest control companies out, they keep treating the skirtings and spraying outside - flat out don't believe the ants come from the ****ing roof.

Ants like finding places with heat. I have a box with transformer in for security gate in the roof. When I opened it, I found a bunch of ants around the heated part.

Must say, we live in an area full of ants, you see them walking in lines around the streets everywhere in this area when going for a walk.

So for me, unfortunately this became a yearly thing to do treatment to kill off the immediate colonies around us.
Spray outside, and inside we use the highly attractive poison they carry back to their nests.

You can’t be this dumb. You’re trolling, right?

If neither of the above is true. Then tell us where you think your geyser gets water from.
I have worked at many flats where this is the case. The source may be the same but hot water and cold water comes from different pipes from the bottom of the block of flats each with their own valve. Normally one pipe and valve for all the flats above cold water and then individual pipes and valves for every flat's geyser.
Thus its easy if someone work there, that they turn a few valves off till they find the right one and then forget to open them again. Or sometimes a few flats hot water/geysers run on one valve and someone closed it by accident or naughty kids/neighbors.

Sure, but if the water was turned off, both taps will run dry. Which was the point being made. Always a single source.

NO, there are separate valves and pipes for hot water and cold. So if someone turned off the valve that runs to his geyser, he will have cold water but no hot water. If the single source was turned off , no one will have any water, hot or cold.
You can't turn the whole block of 50 flats's water off at the main inlet. if you want to work on one flat's water, So there are many valves. normally behind a cover somewhere at the bottom. So I will stand by my guess that someone worked there, turned his/hers valve that runs to geyser off by mistake and never opened it again, thus he have cold water but no hot water

You're literally just repeating yourself now.

Let me say it again.

If the source of the water TO THE BUILDING is turned off; BOTH taps will be dry.

Doesn't matter what valves or pipes are inside the building. What I said in my last post is true. If the inlet to the building is turned off - the taps go dry. Its literally that simple.

Depends on what the house looks like , how many bedrooms and how big is the current living room I guess. For example if you have a 3-4 bedroom house with a tiny living room then a living room will probably increase value more than an Additional bedroom. If you have a one or 2 bedroom house with an average living room then a bedroom could add more value. Lots more information needed to make a accurate assessment.
