So we had a leak ( around 6 months ago) long story short - we had traced it to this space since it seems like waste water turned out it was from one of the inlet pipes. We've now sorted it. Looks worse in the pic than it does irl… Hole is around 500mm at it's longest side.

So outside of the obvious clean the hole… We obviously need to fill the space and tile

Tile
It's from Falcon : we got it from builders but they don't sell to the public and want you to go through one of their retailers - last time we ended paying R500/sqm which is just ridiculous for what I can buy just down the road. Builders don't stock it anymore and would prefer if we bought a pallet for a special order. Any suggestions?

Hole
Is there any problem with getting a screening mix from Builders mixing it of course and filling the home or should I rather get my screed/plaster specialist in. Obviously brushing out the dust and crud in the hole.

Seems line it might be a simple job but don't know if I'm everything it…

I might possibly know a guy who knows a guy that knows another guy. How many boxes would you need? no promises but i can ask for a favor possibly.

is it this one here? https://www.falcontiling.co.za/product/falcon-hexagon-tile-matt-light-grey/

That's 100% the one… Went back and forth about 6x and still landed empty.

Please if you can assist…

how many boxes? according to the link it looks like it says 20 peices per box, looks like you probably only need 1 box?

Rather get extra and store it in the event you require some in the future

I agree to an extent, like maybe an extra box. waiting for him to reply how much he needs. I also don't want to overplay the favor at the same time, difference in asking for a box or two to fix a existing installation vs asking for 10 boxes and they think you just trying to save a couple bucks to tile out your bathroom floor.

Eish. Good luck.
Make sure to get extra when tiling next time round.

How did you find the spot where it was leaking? The pipes in the pic look to be outlet pipes.
Was this the spot where it was leaking?

Eish....
We have granny flat that we are busy preparing for rental, one side of ceiling dropped by 5cm so I removed cornices and decided to lift it up and use dry wall screws instead of nails.
Easy fix I thought, whole bloody thing fell apart.

I am a Ceiling Specialist, here is what is wrong with that ceiling.
1. No batten against wall.
2. It's a plastered ceiling but they used 6.4mm boards instead of 9.0mm.
3. No fiber tape on joints.

That's just what I can see in the Pic.

I would insist in replacing the entire ceiling so I could guarantee my work.

How big is the room?

So, as a guide, a ceiling specialist should charge around R6200 to:
Remove that entire ceiling.
Fit new brandering.
Fit new boards with joint strips.
Fit 75mm cove cornice.
Paint the ceiling (2 coats)
Clean up.

If you want a flush plastered ceiling, you'd be looking at around R8800.
That's using the correct board and reducing the batten spacing, etc.
