Is it possible to get an adapter to convert my current bath spout to a mixer without breaking tiles?

My hot and cold are on the side wall with the spout at the head of the bath.

Hoping to connect a hand shower to help with bathing the kids.

Hi guys, is this quote OK for installation of a garden tap. We have one in the courtyard and the plumber will be installing a new tap on the wall about 23 meters away.

The tap price is alright if he's using a decent one, they cost about that at Chamberlains (don't mind paying retail) but what's the wall plate at R389.50? Why do you think the pipe's R84 per meter?

This red plastic type pipe is a cheap option. It's very good for running long distances for cold water only. If the incorrect fittings are used, or it is used for hot water, expect problems. Compression ring type fittings are usually used to join Polycop pipe

It's literally plastic, no way it's 84bucks a meter..

If you want to save money, but still have something that's going to last an eternity vs polycop, get PEX pipe..

This makes me so mad, if it wasn't for you guys this plumber would have ripped me blind 100m PEX pipe costs the same as he quoted for 25m poly.

well, you have an idea of what materials are required. Buy the materials yourself, maybe exchange for better quality materials where you can/want.

Then get someone to come quote you for the labour only with you providing the materials. The only downside to doing it this way, you have to be prepared for when mistakes happen. They do happen and sometimes its just bad luck. But imagine, like the pipe has holes in from the shop you didn't see. Not saying this will happen, just a random thought.

Usually this is how I like to do things. Does mean, the responsibility of the items are on me, and not on the provider. If they don't like the materials you selected, easy to get someone else.

I don't mind clients supplying "Opinion" material, that stuff where you and I might different on taste, like a tap, tiles, door etc.

Reason: Clients always stuff it up.
Example: One job the room was 3105mm, client bought 3000mm boards, should have bought 3600mm.
So we lost a day meaning I did the job at a loss.

So only way I will let clients buy materials is I can come check the materials before we start. I only reduce the price by half the cost of the material.
I actually prefer not to take the "I'll supply the materials" jobs.

If you are that clever, do the job yourself.

I agree with your points. Thats why I said, the responsibility for that is on me then. I do however buy extra most of the time to prevent exactly that issue you described.

no its not sadly, it would mean opening the wall in both spots.

You do get a replacement spout that has a hand held shower attachment.

You screw it in and open the taps and it fills the bath.

Then you press a button on the spout and the water diverts to a hand held shower coming out of the spout.

Google "Bath spout to hand held shower adaptor"....

Picture of the spout..? If it's really old, you would be out of luck..

If it's newer spout with aerator, you should be able to get an adapter..

It is not necessarily about being a woman though although it is possible. I have been quoted ridiculous prices by many. Lot of chancers in the market. You have to ask for 2-3 quotes, compare line by line, ask questions, ask for referrals and do your due diligence. It is not easy.
