Went to look at the place today. We quite like it. So the system has the following specs:

5kw Growatt Inverter
5.12kwh Cfe lithium-ion battery
6 x 555watt panels

It's just my wife and I. Our consumption ranges between 275 and 350 units (from our Impact Meters bill, assuming it's KWH)

Is there anything I'd need to know, or ask regarding this?

I was told that the installer is active in the area, so I can get his details if I'd like. And I was also told that the majority of the lights and plugs are wired into the essential side, and the geyser and pool pump sit on the non essential side. 20240601_123624.jpg20240601_123629.jpg20240601_123634.jpg
 
Anyone got a good way to paint the back of burglar bars where there is not enough space to get a brush in? Currently I am masking off the area and pushing a sponge dipped in paint into there. This is messier than it sounds.

Are these the old school inside the window ones with like a 1cm gap between the bar and the window? I have to assume these are fixed windows also?

Jealous.

My kitchen is something I really want to do at some stage but so many costly stumbling blocks that I'm not too keen on. One day, might be one day.

Yeah we finally pulled the trigger on the renovation of the original 40+ year old kitchen.
 
I also can't wait to do my kitchen in my lifetime. Did remodel out of necessity last week when I flooded the kitchen and had to get to the plumbing. Moved all the floor cupboards away.


Used the opportunity to prototype our future kitchen and we like the setup. We will upcycle what we have and agreed to a budget. If it is existing stuff, then R200 per cupboard (paint, etc), it is new stuff then we will save up.

We have already upcycled room dividers into kitchen cupboards using Chalk Paint in the past. Will use the same paint on our existing cupboards.

Only need to replace the counter tops to be honest. I want to get bamboo counter tops to match some mobile butcher blocks we picked up secondhand.

just paininting our kitchen gave it 5 more years before we decided its time.

loads you can do in the meantime no need to go all out.
 
Just a question for those that may have gone this route and can shed some light.

With our plans for the outside entertainment room in the pipelines I’m starting to think about the building aspect. The walls are all designed with concrete blocks but I am starting to think about SIP (Structural insulated panels).

Anyone worked with the stuff and can shed light on aesthetic and cost?

Countertops quote came to 18k installed.. thats 5.12sqm worth of countertop.. chose a 9mm porcelain based stone as the countertop.. had a great special on it at 900 per sqm..

Can you please tell me where you got the quote on the countertops?
