The Home Improvements Thread (3)

If you printing this on the x1c, try to really slow down your printing speed. The x1c by default print too fast if strength, or rather, layer adhesion is what you need.

I could try but it will never be as flexible as whatever plastic cable clips are made from. I can get the printed one to work once, but trying to remove it caused it to just break into pieces. If I had black PA it probably would work fine, but that would also be a pain to print when I can get 50 of them for R13

Anyone know if I can find these cable clips in Cape Town somewhere?

Builders only have the round profile in black. I really would try to avoid having R13's worth of clips shipped all the way from Joburg 🤦‍♂️

I tried to 3d print my own but even in PETG they're too brittle still.
I think I got some from Mica in Durbanville few weeks back, also there is Dents electrical, maybe they have it.
Brights should be good bet too.

Tried to create an account with ACDC the other day but you have to register as a business, I don't have time for that.

Checked ARB's website and they're out of stock in CPT apparently.
They have a few walk-in stores open to the general public.. bought from them a few times..

Hi guys. I want to install a pergola in my backyard. Where can I get proper wood around PTA, JHB North or West Rand?
I have been to builders, Leroy Merlin, and chamberlain and they do not seem to have them. More especially the post. I want those biggish ones. 150mmx150mm 3M ones at least.

might just want to double check that you dont need approved plans first.

Eish. Didn't know that. I will check with my architect

Edit: Just read somewhere that states "As per the regulations, no approval is needed for an open-sided pergola with an area not exceeding 20 square meters"

pls do - dont want to be silly but I just went through the get things on the plan exercise.

lapa not on plan, carport not on plan add on not on plan. Cost R20k to add to plan and then loads of work to rectify issues

Noah's Ark in Pomona

Is that a spitfire coffee table? If yes, good / worth it? Saw the shop in Benmore gardens closed down - their stuff is really expensive and I am unsure if it's worth it.
I assume it is a Spitfire yes. However, I bought it at Sevens in 2015. It weighs a fscking fsck ton.
I am convinced they poured concrete into the frame before hammering down the aluminum sheeting.

Did I mention it's heavy?
