Yes, it would be more secure if the admin SSH password matched the admin web interface password, but I think the password must be unique to each device (otherwise we wouldn't need to read the contents of an XML file). It should also be easy for you to test if those ports are open on the WAN side or only on the LAN side.

I agree completely. Either matching to WEB interface password or configured independently from management page. As long it is user accessible/changeable I have no problem with it.

Password is probably the same for all devices, but encrypted using one of device unique serial numbers with a master key (therefore is unique - not inter-changeable), it is why XML file is needed. I don't want to judge on the issue, but very likely, it is how encryption works.

How should I then connect to my B593? via Wi-Fi or LAN? I use both! (Double trouble) ;)

B593 WAN = LTE = Network = Telkom (ISP) Right? If it is malicious, ISP can stop it right? :sick:

Hi

How do I go about setting up a limit for each user that connects to the wofi router. My little sisters are abusing my data so I need to find a way to cap them.

Any ideas on where to find this on the menu options?

Would really appreciate your help.

I have not seen an accounting function on the B593 router, sorry.
If you are serious about such a function, I know it's available on RouteBoard.

Otherwise setup a special Wi-Fi log in for her and disable her log in when limit reached.
Edit: You will have to monitor her usage, not automated.
The B593 (-601) router report usage on each LAN port and Wi-Fi (SSID).

Actually B683 does Telnet and SSH (tested it right now), but SSH service is not configured by default (sorry, I missed it). It is how it looks on B683 setting page /attached/
B593 is expected to give us the same.

Edit:
1. Note of separate settings for LAN/WAN interface.
2. SSH login/password is the same as WEB access.
3. Default FTP login/password is ftp/ftp. It can be changed in "System" section.
4. FTP service allows accessing files on attached USB stick, not internal router storage.

As default FTP login/password is ftp/ftp, perhaps on B583 you should try ssh/ssh for SSH.

So anyone here maybe have a HUAWEI B593s-601 for sale/trade/rent? :D

I need to test my signal first before trying to buy a new one...

Quick costing for you:

XPOL-0001 @ R559.00
HDF-195 5m x 2 @ R0.00 (included)
Medium wall bracket @ R99.00
Bolts and nuts at R0.00 (included)
2m mast @ R105.00

Total R870.00 inc VAT excluding courier.

But will I be guaranteed stronger signal and faster speeds if I install such equipment?

I don't want to waste my money.

hi, is there anyone know how to hack the modem password ?i have B593U-12, but cannot login to admin page . try many password also cannot , try to reset to factory setting and use admin also cannot. i need help, please advise . thanks .
 
That particular model has the password on the back of the router labelled 'Device password'. It's very easy to miss because it's not normally done like this - usually it's 'admin' and 'admin'.

yup..that label in behind router was admin, but i have try it cannot login. after press reset button also cannot using "admin" to login

after i reset the router was found that wifi name was not same in label . now the wifi key also cannot connect. only can use lan cable to connect . so i need someone help me now to login the router .thanks
 
Hmm, sounds like you have exhausted all your options. Do you have any warranty left? I think at this point, get the unit swapped out if there is warranty left.
