The ICC T20 World Cup 2016 thread

Aus won't get out of the group imho, without mitch starc there bowling looks very weak for indian conditions. Neither zampa nor agar has any experience of bowling in india.

New zealand is also a question mark especially having lost baz.

India and Pakistan from that group with nz maybe pipping pakistan.
SA and West indies from the other group.

England for all their hype are very weak as far as fielding and bowling goes. Also they lack experience of india conditions in t20 cricket, the stat read out during the last t20 vs SA was stagerring. The SA Squad has played 400+ ipl games while england has 40 games.

West indies for all there issues in test and odi cricket is a very good t20 side with a lot of match winner and a lot of ipl xp to call on. Sri lanka having lost sanga and mahela won't have enough and will lose out to them.

A batting line-up with Warner, Finch, Khawaja (red-hot), Smith (consistently hot), Maxwell, Faulkner etc. doesn't need great bowlers. I wouldn't be surprised to see Aus put up incredible scores this world cup...the last time they were in India they were scoring runs for fun on those pitches in the 7 ODI's.

They got thrashed in the t20's last time they played in india. You need bowlers to be able to defend else you will lose.

Yeah, just look at what happened to England on Sunday. You can bat all the way down to 10 but if you don't have the bowlers to defend a total, you're stuffed. I wouldn't put them as favourites, but no team scraps like they do when up against the wall. Write them off at your peril.

Windies, SA, Aus and India all in with a great shout. Pakistan, NZ and Bangladesh are lurking as threats. England & Sri Lanka as rank outsiders. Zim, Netherlands and Ireland... Just no.
 
I think some of you guy's might be getting a little ahead of yourselves here.

Lets have some perspective here:

Protea's did win the t20 series, but a lot of luck/fortune/rub of the green went their way(this could be said for the ODI's also).
England made sure the remaing ODI's and T20 victories where handed to the Protea's on a silver platter.
How many tosses did the Protea's win through out the entire tour (test,ODI,T20).
Protea's are a master class when either playing in pink and or at the Wanderers.
I think from Englands point of view, Broad and Finn in the attack for the world cup could have a big impact.

Basically what i'm saying is don't be fooled by what you witnessed on Sunday, all the stars where aligned for that last T20 match, if you play golf and have one of those days, you will know what i mean.

But hey, i could be wrong whilst looking through my rose tinted glasses, if so, then a big hats off to CSA and Domingo, they have done a fine job putting this potential world cup winning squad together.

You make your own luck, and England made theirs with the ball and in the field :p

A large part of the game, believe it or not, is luck. We've had our fair share of bad luck too, sometimes you need things to go your way...

Broad isn't picked for the world t20, he will be having as much impact as me sitting on my couch at home.

Also you make your own luck, england fielding was dreadfull that has nothing to do with losing the toss or luck.

Also as for losing the toss. Morgan claimed he got to do what he wanted 99% of the time, so sounds like excuse to me.

Also if you are going to be complaining about missing players we were without a certain DW Steyn for the entire tour pretty much.
 
Steyn to make return in club cricket

Dale Steyn will make a return to competitive cricket after almost two months out of action on Saturday in a club game in Cape Town. Steyn will play for Western Province Cricket Club in the first day of a two-day fixture against St Augustine in order to determine his readiness for next month's three T20s against Australia and the World T20.

I suspect it will be a very well attended first Saturday. Personally, I'd love to be a St Aug's batsman. Doesn't matter if you get a first ball duck, you can say you faced Dale Steyn at full chat! :)
