The ICC T20 World Cup 2016 thread

Did the pitch play any differently in the second innings?

Not that I could tell From crictinfo's commentary. I think Zim bowled really well and HK batted poorly. I only saw one missed fielding attemt that I recall now

Cool. They mentioned the pitch was dry earlier on so I was hoping it didn't spin more in the second innings.

I remember the toss being quite important at some venues in India - hoping the shorter games and ICC input into pitch preparation reduces the importance of winning the toss.

second game on the same pitch for the day. Afganistan won the toss and chose to bat.
25/1 after 3

I see Roelof van der Merwe in the starting lineup for the Netherlands but no Ryan ten Doeschate. Anyone know what his story is and why he's not playing?

Ten Doeschate is retired. Played in the masters league along smith, kallis & co.

Some comments judging after yesterdays games at nagpur, seems for that venue it will be quite low scoring slow pitches. Our group games we play 2 at mumbai (always a very batting friendly high scoring venue), west indies at nagpur and sri lanka at delhi, delhi also has a rep for being slow and low. We will want to top our group and get the semi at mumbai, eden gardens for the final is usually a good batting track.

Netherlands let it slip a bit but still in with a chance. Bangladesh 153/7 from their 20.

Ned starting off way too slow. not enough running between the wickets.

Ned can win this!

hup holland hup

Zimbabwe 147/7 (20/20 ov)
Scotland 136/10 (19.4/20 ov)
Zimbabwe won by 11 runs

It feels like Scotland may have choked here. They got off to a shocking start. Something of a recovery in the second half, but losing wickets at crucial times did their chances no good. Zim are almost certainly through to the next round while Scotland are virtually assured of going home empty handed.

Pakistan threaten pull out

Pak threaten WT20 withdrawal

Pakistan said on Thursday its cricket team would not take part in the World Twenty20 tournament in India without a public guarantee from the host country over the safety of its players.

The most anticipated match at the tournament between India and arch-rivals Pakistan was shifted to Kolkata on Wednesday over concerns about security at the original venue for the March 19 clash at Dharamsala.

But Pakistani officials said that wasn't enough.

"Until on a government level we are ... given a public guarantee (of safety), unfortunately we are not in a position to give the Pakistani team permission to go to India," Pakistani Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan told reporters.

Outside of international tournaments, cricket matches between India and Pakistan have been suspended since gunmen killed 166 people in Mumbai in a three-day rampage in 2008, which India blames on a Pakistani militant group.

Top cricket countries have also refused to tour Pakistan since 2009, when gunmen attacked a bus carrying a visiting Sri Lanka team near Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium.

The International Cricket Council said on Wednesday it had been given assurances on security from all the Indian state authorities that are hosting matches.

my view on the starting line up

1. QDK
2. Hash
3. ABD
4.Faf
5.Miller
6.Duminy
7.Morris
8.Phangiso/Steyn (pending the track)
9.Abbot
10.Rabada
11.Tahir

South Africa 196/9 (20/20 ov)
India 130/3 (14/20 ov)

India require another 67 runs with 7 wickets and 36 balls remaining

Warm up match SA vs India currently on. De Kock retired - giving someone else a chance or injured?

Retired out not hurt. All players in the squads can play in these games so just to give everyone a hit.

I see duminy was back in runs 67 from 44 so that probably settles who between him rr & behardien gets the gig for the one middle order spot.

I think the team should depend on condition on batting tracks like mumbai we can probably play abbot/phangiso instead of one of the allrounders while on bowling tracks like nagpur you probably want an extra allrounder.

We won, but the guys are going to have to work on their discipline with death bowling.
6 required off the last ball, and Morris bowls a wide...

South Africa 196/9 (20/20 ov)
