The ICC T20 World Cup 2016 thread

I have been pro jp for every T20 game other than the last one in cape town. I'm happy he is showing form and that he bowled well.

This was an important win. End India's winning streak. End our loosing streak...

Duminy highest scorer... hmmm who on this forum said he won't do well in India ?

South Africa 196/9 (20/20 ov)
India 193/5 (20.0/20 ov)

South Africa won by 3 runs

Can't recall anyone saying he wouldn't do well in India. And some did mention his IPL record, which is good.

The rest (myself included) called for him to be dropped on current form (which at the time was played outside India).

JP hadn't been in the best form so it was good to see him back in form, his spot wasn't in danger thought as neither rr or fudge hadn't anything to dislodge him. If anything they have been even worse then jp.

I did say he should be dropped from the odi and test team, don't recall saying anything about t20 thought.

His IPL record is remarkable and he is our top scorer in T20 (not taking matches into account to judge). But yes he is a bit of a slow starter and tend to get out before he gets going. We can only wish he does well when needed.

GO GO SA !!!

Im still not convinced re JP , but he did score some good runs this evening and between him ,RR and Behardien , well I guess you have to back him as RR looks out of sorts currently .

I would have liked to see Quinny carry on as it looks like he was set up for a big one , I still cant believe that they are even considering leaving him out for Amla (or vice versa) for the World Cup . I hope they have dropped this idea of only one of Amla or Quinny can play .For me open with De Kock and Amla with AB to come in no 3 and the rest filling in after that .

Im a bit worried about a bowling though , we seem to be pinning all our hopes on Tahir picking up wickets in the middle overs and I think Morris and Wiese could do with a bit more discipline when it comes to their bowling .

That being said , Ill take the win . I do wonder what happened to AB though in this game , perhaps still nursing his shoulder injury .

Are those SA start times or India start times?

Now after 1 good score everybody will say that Duminy deserves to be in the team. I still do not agree. I will be the first to admit that I am wrong if he gets a few good scores during the tournament. One cannot use one match to say he is back on form and deserves to be there.

Rossouw also doesn't deserve to be in the team on current form.

Well I think he does. He has loads of T20 experience. If however we were playing 50 overs or Tests, then yes drop him. But this is a completely different ball game and he has proven to be a success in India. Whether he does impress or not, we need at least someone with that experience.

Besides the two competing for his spot rossouw and behardien haven't done a thing to dislodge him.

Super 10 starts at 4pm tomorrow!!

PS. OP updated...

And a cracking game to get it under way. Can't help but feel that NZ are going to sorely miss B-Mac. Still, if they can stick to their disciplines and their big guns fire, they can stick it to the Indians (which would be blerry marvelous!).

Can't see NZ matching india. The loss of BMac is a big one, he should have waited till after this tournament.
