The Proteas are coming home, even after walking the extras mile.
Sorry, that may be considered wide of the mark.

Not sure who has had the poorer outing in the WC, SL or ZA. Right now it looks like SL.
Us I recon, SL still recovering from not having Malinga as well as the retirement of Sangakkara and Jayawardene
We had a full strength squad...
Poorly coached team. They don't get the fundamentals right. That's why I say they need someone like Jennings. You play like you practice and it's clear these guys don't practice very hard.
They need someone to take them by the scruff of the neck and say, 'okay, enough of the music videos, get out there and practice you bloody running between wickets'!
When has jennings approach ever worked at the top professional level? All that approach will do is get the players turning against him like what happened at the proteas, gauteng and bangalore before.
The side needs an innovative guy who understand how be tough but also compassionate. Jennings can only do the tough part so no thx.

Since readmission in 1991, South Africa are the only top-eight side not to reach a World Cup or World T20 final.

Ja, have to agree with getting Jennings. He is good at coaching kids.
On a more realistic note, I'd actually pick someone like Stephen Fleming.
compassionate? :wtf:
"Ag shame poor quinsy winsy, your running between wickets is erm, a bit kuk, but never mind, have a lollipop"
"What's that Steynsie, ball just won't go where you want it to go? Here, have a pair of 3D glasses, maybe that will help"
"Faf, faf, faf [shakes head], here is a hot compress for your frozen brain"
"KG, demmit bro! Those wides and long hops were a bit expensive what...ah well, I can see you're in pain - here, go have nice relaxing bath [hands KG a bottle of Shipmate bubble bath]
They need someone who is hard, but fair, someone who helps them aspire to their best, and someone who scouts out the conditions well beforehand, picks the right team for the conditions, and sends the goddamned captain and bowlers in with a proper fecking plan - like the Kiwis do!
Our guys were one-dimensional and clueless when faced with conditions that they were clearly not properly prepared for.
I don't see any trophies in that wiki article...
Poorly coached team.
Yeah, only a world cup winning medal but they so common place in our cricketing history.
The fundamentals remain the same regardless of age group. Train hard, practice hard, put in more effort than your competitors and you will truimph. That was pretty much the ethos which Hanise's Proteas followed and for the most part it served them well. 99 has been our best effort to date.
Our most successful national coaches have usually coached at age group level. Think PDV and Jake White.
The 99 world cup we had Lance Klusener with a tally of 281 runs at 140.50 and strike rate of 122.20 to go with 17 wickets at 20.58.
Line up in the semi final
G Kirsten
HH Gibbs
DJ Cullinan
WJ Cronje
JH Kallis
JN Rhodes
SM Pollock
L Klusener
MV Boucher†
S Elworthy
AA Donald
^^ Lower order 7 Pollock 9 Klusener 10 Boucher4 All rounder in the team, today we can't find 1.
Replace Elworthy with Nicky Boje and 5 All rounders.
That was a pretty terrible world cup for everyone except Klusener...he pretty much carried us to that semi and almost bailed us out again. To be honest, we didn't deserve to be there either.
