The iOS 11 Thread/Discussion

That Beta for battery is obviously very Beta because this iPhone 6 I'm typing on now with a known to be ****ed 500mah capacity and lasts an hour from full charge it reckons is 90%.

Then it said nothing about being throttled before she according to CPU stats never was until it crashed once on 11.3 now and suddenly message pops up to now say it's throttled.

So if anything 11.3 makes the throttling more overzealous now that they actively warn you.

Full charging it how to see how it handles the throttled state.

The Battery Life app, Coconut battery and iMazing have all reported either identical or within 1% on all the phones I've checked, so it's not inaccurate in my usage.

I suspect it relates directly to how broken the battery is.

Think about it, if your battery is still hunky dory you are looking at a scale of 20 units between 80-100%.

Not a lot to get wrong there.

My worst example was an old 6s with 74%, though yes, all the others have been >80%.

To add, you should try Coconut battery (Mac) or iMazing (free trial program on Win) and see what they report. They show a lot more, including number of charge cycles.

Do they connect to the iPhone I'm guessing ?

Ag I've always ordered a new battery at Digicape which is a whole retardation of itself but will have a look.

Two friends though with 6S and 7 also saw quite a big different between iOS and Battery Level.

Maybe it take a few cycles to average or something.

Yes, you connect the iPhone to your PC/Mac via USB, it's pretty simple to use.

If you ignore the fact that my iPhones have cut the cord since jeez I don't know probably iCloud first opened shop.

5+ years I guess.

:)

But will check it out in the week.

My sons 6s is also 74%. Fortunately it still behaves well and is fast and smooth enough.

FYI my 3 month old 8 is 100%.

If only my % was higher ... I know my phone is old so guess it should be expected that my iPhone 6 bought on launch day (24 Oct 2014) would be quite bad ... says Service and is at 58% Maximum Capacity.

I have had two "invalid SIM" issues on my iPhone 7 plus. Resolved by taking the SIM out and putting it back in. A pain, especially if it happens when I am away from a paper clip.

Maybe get a simswop done.

I find this rather handy:

New in iOS 11.3: updating apps obtained from foreign App Stores without switching Apple IDs

Some iPhone and iPad apps are only available from foreign App Stores.

Thanks to an underreported tweak in iOS 11.3, users are no longer required to switch Apple IDs and/or App Store regions when updating apps obtained from local App Stores.

As noted by German blog Macerkopf.de (Google Translate), an app obtained from an App Store region other than your default country can now be updated without switching Apple IDs.

When you happen to live outside the United States, there’s a whole lot of apps you can only get from the US store. That’s why I have two App Store accounts.

My primary account is for the American version of App Store. I created that because the US store features by far the largest selection of apps and games. The other one is for the local Croatian version of App Store, where I get my local banking apps and other software from, including apps for local transportation services and what not.

Before iOS 11.3, App Store would prompt me to sign in with the Apple IDs I used to obtain apps from foreign App Stores before I could download their updates. With iOS 11.3 and later, I no longer have to switch to the App Store region I originally downloaded the app from.

Now you simply hit the Update button and all your apps get updated no matter the country they were downloaded from, making it a lot easier to update all your apps at once. While you may still be prompted to confirm the password for your foreign App Store account, this is way easier than having to sign out of App Store and manually sign back in with the right Apple ID.

What do you think of this little tweak in iOS 11.3? And while we’re at it, do you use iPhone or iPad apps obtained from foreign App Stores?

I swear that feature was in play many years ago already when we first got our own proper Appstore.

Then at some point it just stopped so I'm glad it's back in play.

Not that I can think of any app that I needed it for of late.

Does it work for in-app purchases though? Bought Super Mario in the US store before it was released in SA store, paid to unlock. Quite a pain when I sync or update it and lose the in-app purchase.
