The iOS 13 Thread/Discussion

Hi Guys,

Has anybody here experienced an issue where if you answer a call on ios 13, you would hear the other guys first word in a stutter and then the call just disconnects?

To explain this better. If you were to answer my call and say "hallo", I would only hear "ha ha ha ha" and then the call drops.

This seems to be random but myself and 2 other relatives has this issue. We are all on Vodacom and on iPhone 7,8 and 8+(all updated to 13.1.1)

Anybody from other networks experienced this yet?

Never had this before ios 13.

I had this issue on my XS Max also on Voda, it seemed to be due to Voda’s VoLTE, this doesn’t seem to happen I set it with VoLTE off. Incredibly strange and frustrating issue.

Makes sense, and supports my earlier statement that it sounds like a bad VoIP connection.

To make things worse.. if I am walking with the phone.. after using it I slide it in the pocket upside down.. meaning it goes in the pocket with the camera part first, the part where there would be a fingerprint sensor would be sticking out of the pocket.. (if that makes sense) it's just a natural thing to do I'm sure lots of people just put it in the pocket like that..

Now these scratches are on the lower area of the screen. I just inspected my iPhone 6s now.. it has more scratches on the upper area than lower area due to how I slide it in my pocket.. so trying to think of all scenarios that would cause me to scratch this brand new iPhone 11 Pro in literally 2 days.. and I can't find any!
Apparently, this iPhone is incredibly prone to scratches on the screen. It's all over the Apple forums...

That said, I'm still awaiting my pre-order...

I wanted to go this route, but man that is a lot of effort.

EDIT:
I just tried phoning my phone from a number which is not in my contacts. It went straight to voicemail and I got a notification on my phone that I have a new voicemail. I'm on Telkom.

Shot for the feedback... I'm convinced it's a provider issue, if not just my line then a Vodacom problem. I'll follow up with them today.

@Dreamb
I would demand a new phone. The clowns they have working there are clueless!!!

They have no clue.. to take a phone to core group for 4 days when it's not even a phone related issue.. he should have known better to tell me to wait for newer iOS updates as this was a 'common' issue with latest update...

They have a note when they received the phone that it has minor scratches and fingerprints. .I am led to believe it might have scratched from my pocket.. seems easy to scratch! If that's the case I will use it for 3 months than go to iStore to claim for a new screen with their apple care!

That sounds like a plan but if they're just hairline scratches then I'd leave it for a while longer. It could just be that oleophobic coating scratched and that they'll soon disappear as the coating wears off. Hairline scratches have never bothered me because I think it gives the phone character.

But yeah, this screen seems way too easy to damage. I've never ever used a screen protector but I have one on order for my iPhone 11 Pro which is on back order.

As was said above try turning off VoLTE.

Absolutely a provider issue if that fixes it.

I’ll never go back from a Rhinoshield screen protector and cover.

It’s just not worth the risk otherwise.

Ahhh... Live a little. It’s happening out there.
It should happen to the phone too.

Pointless living a little if I need to replace my phone every few months.

Only took one serious drop of my XR or order another Rhinoshield as per my old iPhone.

Thanks for that suggestion there... Still no go. Wondering if I should deal with Vodacom or just carry on like I always have, manually ignore numbers that I don't know.

Same here. I don't intend to keep it pristine for the next person to use.

Brave man.

I cannot do that, I can be 100% careful and then comes the one day I take my eye off the ball (e.g. while out having drinks or just a very busy day) I can have the phone falling down a flight of stairs or dropping it face first while getting out the car, I have done both a few times since getting my XS Max, but luckily I have it protected. Had to replace the Tempered Glass screen protector a week after putting it on

I have Apple Care+ on my 11 Pro and Watch 5 cellular. Costs about $13 a month and makes damage replacements cheap.
