I think his firmware is fine. I am pretty sure iTunes would have croaked if the firmware download was invalid (IIRC there is a check of the file integrity before the update).

Caution: Pwnage is not supported in virtual environments ;)

Well i QuickPwn mine in Bootcamp under Vista :) Just needs access to the USB drive doesn't it?

I just recall the readme saying not supported. Dual boot should be fine. I know that sometimes with USB and virtualization the access to the USB port can be unpredictable and in some cases you may not get the same exclusive access to it like the host OS would. So while it may work, you could get into a situation where halfway through a FW flash the USB port chokes and you have a bricked device. So the less layers between me and an expensive paper weight the better :)

1 000 good reasons and not 1 bad reason. :D

Yes, with a simply restore of the firmware in iTunes your phone goes back to it's original state.

Refer to post #1 for reasons why you should jailbreak and how to go on about it...

:D good to hear thanks. Uh any tips on a decent protective cover and places to get them? One that protects the screen as well, my 6300 is pretty scratched and dropped plenty, need to look after my iphone:)

Even with a decent cover, DON'T drop your iPhone (have a look at my photo gallery to see why :( )

You can get many covers and rubber gloves from various shops..

I personally hate covers that make the phone bulkier, especially rubber ones that are a mission to pull out your jean pocket.

I have this for the back and this for the screen and am very happy..

I've dropped my iPhone plenty of times, luckily not as bad as Echo...

Dude! WTF! Did you drop a brick on that or something?!

Is the first thing for the back just a sticker? And the screen protector also lik a sticker?

@all: See the prob for me is there SO many i dont know which one works. I mean they range from R50 to R500, wats the diff?

They both sticker-like.

Depends what you looking for.. Walk into a phone shop and try each cover on, see what you prefer and what suits you.

Look and Listen have quite a few iPhone accessories and they stock the screen protectors limnos mentioned.

why would you not recommend? i've only had good results with iGear?

I just haven't had a good experience with them. Not going to rant here, but the customer service was shocking after they sold me a Fong Kong BT headset that didn't even work that I found for R250 less at the Flea Market!

My shopping experience with Shop & Ship has always been excellent and their customer service is a pleasure...

RiP Dev Announces Desktop Installer for iPhone Apps!

Practically it is a desktop variant of our own Installer.app. It will allow you to view and install packages that are present in various Installer and Cydia repositories by downloading them to your computer and then synchronizing via the USB cable with your iPhone.

I wonder if it only works with their Installer app and not with Cydia...

I did read that it manages both Installer and Cydia repo's...
