Busy downloading cydia updates etc. Lets hope all goes well.

Roland, the new ipcc file in discussion - i assume I will have no use for it since I am using a 2G? Or is there SOME benefit in using it? (Logo? SInce MMS and Tethering will surely not work)

well, you'll have to do the logo yourself, but check fxit's previous posts, there's an easy way to do just the logo by replacing the logo.png's on the phone after jailbreaking

Aaaarrrgghhhh after the ipcc, I now have to find a way to change my carrier logos again!!!!! But thank the heavens tethering and MMs works 100%

Now the question, with what do I update an ipcc file, can I use normal winrar, open it up, extract carrier.plist, edit it, out it back with the logos and then save as ipcc again?

no need to edit ipcc, just replace the .png's in the package with your own, and zip it again, then rename zip to ipcc

better to just open the zip, and replace the png's inside the zip

Same here, but Vodacom has a crappy logo not fxits fault, vodafone's is better.

wanted to update to OS 3.0 today cos of ultrasn0w but now when i try restore to to the ipsw it says "the firmware is not compatible", does anyone know why?

i downloaded the correct firmware for iphone 3g. iPhone1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore, correct?

I tried to do it, but I think winrar corrupted my ipcc file, cause when I tried to import it, I got a nasty error in itunes, but yours worked fine

Just updated the old "no service" 2G to 3.0 and redsn0wed (0.7.2). All went smoothly on Windows 7 RC 64bit

I opted for Icy over Cydia.

That's the 2G firmware. You need iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore

No idea. I only have experience with locked 2G and unlocked 3G models.

If you make a backup in iTunes you can restore it once you have updated the firmware.

I suggest you go do a bit of reading before you update and jailbreak. The iClarified and BigBoss sites are good starting points
