Just the baseband from 3.1 yes, not the OS, seems a bit more stable, I'm still convinced it's the one that was supposed to ship with os3.0, wouldn't recommend trying the install tho, annoyingly complicated process...

Shout if you do decide to go that route, will help out
 
Ok, for the people in the know, maybe someone can point me in the right direction to start investigating.

Last night I played around with my phone, and saw that SupremePreferences 3 (beta) was out. Installed it, but it did not work, so I uninstalled it, and after that, I cannot change any of the settings on my phone, oh I can safe them, but it does not get saved. The same thing with winterboard themes, I can apply the theme, but my phone does not even respring, when I go back in winterboard the theme is not selected.

The same with normal preferences, tethering and MMS works fine, but for instance if I want to add another mail account, I can add it and it tests fine, till I close settings, then the mail aco**** is gone, but when I add an account to something like ibismail which is a 3rd party app, it works fine.

So somewhere my settings file (think maybe its springboard), is @#$%#@$%. Any hints on where to look?
 
try restoring from a backup that was made of your phone before you installed supremepreferences 3
 
Did try that, still not working, I have a sneaky suspicion somewhere some file permissions were changed, and its the files that do not get backed up
 
all settings do get backed up, had a huge issue with a phone i restored to 3.0, then restored from backup, turns out before the firmware restore the guy had switched off edge in sbsettings, and after the backup was restored the phone wouldn't connect to internet, eventually managed to set up a wifi network it could use to download sbsettings and re-enable edge (luckily i suspected this was the issue...), so the settings should be in there, but try sbsettings, the "more" section, there's a fix user dir permissions option, might help....
 
Nope does not work, I can add something like a new email account, and while "settings" is still open its fine, till I close settings, when I open it again, its gone, have to google some more

Back from a long-ish holiday! Hope everything's going well :p

@Gothan try the following command via Putty or MobileTerminal:

chown -R mobile /var/mobile/
 
Copy & Paste on websites

I simply LOVE the new copy, cut & paste functionality that comes with OS3.0, but something strange has been happening to me the past few days (better said just 2 min ago). I can use this function most anywhere except on the WIKIPEDIA website :eek: . Normaly I would not have picked up on this cause I do not frequent this website.

Just wanted to know AM I THE ONLY ONE? Take note I can do the copy/paste
EVERYWHERE ELSE :D

But sorted it out, just "re-jailbreaked" the phone and its working fine again, well another little problem has reared its head, but I think it might be MTN related, my phone will give one ring when someone from a cellphone phones me, and then stop and show a missed call, but normal landlines work fine. When I asked the people that phoned me, they said the line just went dead

But other than that the fine is hunky dorey again

Oh, that happens with Vodacom too - it's their network.

I never noticed this before either, I can copy the links but not words from wikipedia, I'm using the mobile version of wikipedia though.

TBH: I am rather underwhelmed by the implementation.

I have found the whole 'loupe' effort very fiddly since the beginning, it suffers from one simple pragmatic failure: your finger covers the text that you are trying to edit so its really hard to place the prompt (like when you make a spelling error and want to place the prompt before the erroneous letter to delete it - very fiddly) now the select all/cut /copy crap comes up under the same circumstances... I really cant figure out how to get one and not the other... its just a very messy and cluttered little corner of the OS.

Not a fan.
 
Think it has to do with the cable break in halfway house, check the news on myadsl

I agree.... dammit, this problem kept me couped up in my room yesterday, rebooting my phone like 8 times just trying to send a few stupid text emails...I was about ready to kill something :mad::mad::mad::mad:
