Won't be able to help you there Roland. It's my Windows partition that don't ever use, so I just cleared ALL caches that were selected by default - deleted about a good gig or so of crap...

It was weird, cos at the time when I wanted to download blackra1n from this original website - it was down (obviously due to overload) - so I Googled for it and some guy had packaged it in a .rar file together with app called CCCleaner.

I don't think the activatemm2g works 100%, that is why they removed it from cydia, a lot of people complained about it. I actually downloaded the .deb last week and tried it on a phone....did not work, the 2g, still could not MMS.

Best one to use would be swirlymms2 (well the small little two, can't recreate it on my keyboard, don't know the ansi code for it), you can't really use any other version on 3, only that one

how do you do this? internet explorer cache, or am i missing something?
 
iphone on os3.x jailbreak tutorial updated with most relevant current info

please let me know what, if anything, you did to get 3G to work, don't post failures, we know about the iPhone 3G "displays running with no change on the phone" issue

Looks good to me. Some users have also said that you need to disable your AV as blackra1n tries to access the iPhone before it has booted up, which some AV see as a threat and block it. Same thing with the firewall. I never had these issues tho.
 
I have done everything in the tutorial ran blackra1n and has been waiting for 20 min for the phone to reboot. shall I just do it OVER again or what?
 
This is why you cannot compare a release from the iPhone DevTeam - every single one of their releases is guaranteed to work without any creases. I expect a RC2 from Geohot to fix the issues with the 3G.

Try this:
iTunes -> Edit -> Preferences -> Devices -> Prevent iPods and iPhones from syncing automatically.

Note that it is NOT good enough to just untick "Automatically sync when phone is connected"; you MUST do it within Preferences also.

make sure you use taskmanager to kill iPodService.exe, iTunesHelper.exe, iTunes.exe if they're running before loading blackra1n.

OR

- Hold both the power and home button till the iphone switches off. Press the power button to switch it back on, the iphone will boot normally.

Then,

- Restart your PC. Make sure you close all applications, including web browsers.

- Run Blackra1n, connect your iphone to a DIFFERENT USB port. Click "make it ra1n".

That is what I did... and it worked for me. I have tried everything previously to solve the issue, clean restored half a dozen times... etc. The above method seemed to solve my problem.

“Ok I figured it out. If your stuck at running… and recovery mode do this.

1. close blackra1n
2. open blackra1n
3. hold home and power buttons down.

phone reboots but keep holding down until geohot’s pic shows up. similar to redsn0w.”

try using different USB ports...

My friend just called me and told me that he put his laptop into sleep mode ( put screen down ) and opened it up again and blackra1n ran on the phone - Weird!

Let me know what works! That's all I could find on the net...
Reset your iPhone by holding down power and home button together for 10 seconds...

:confused:

I have disabled everything remotely associated to iTunes Apple and tried blackra1n again. Now I just get the connect to iTunes screen and blackra1n shows running. I have reset my phone upwards of 7 times saem result every time. :confused:.

I need the jailbreak for pdanet :p it's going to suck to be without internet tethering when I leave the office :mad:
 
Only if you are on vodacom, if you are on mtn, you cannot tether without pdanet (on 3.1 and up of course)
 
FINALLY :D 10 times I had to try it but eventually it did work. Downloading Cydia now phew I thought I was going to be stuck using my daughters Samsung E250:mad: tether. All in ALL a day well spent at the office. I have done a damn thing JOB related since I walked in at 10am :p

So how did you do it so we can try and find out why everyone is getting these problems?

Seems to be a number of different problems but would be interesting nevertheless
