Hey guys,

I'm thinking of installing blackra1n RC2.

I got my iPhone in August from Vodacom and I am using it with an MTN sim card (without having to do an unlock). Does this classify my phone as factory unlocked?

If so, I want to upgrade my firmware to 3.1.2 using iTunes. and then use blackra1n RC2 to jailbreak. Will it work even though im on MTN?

Thanks..

Yes

I am running TomTom app v1.0, I installed it yesterday to test it out ...my map says Western Europe tho?
Anyway I have 3GS 32GB running 3.1.2

Yeah it's just because they edit the European version and just replace the European maps with the SA maps.

Doesn't really matter anyways.. Just shows in "About", but still works the same.

TomTom Southern Africa v1.1

Phew! It was a lot more work than expected, by finally, after working on it the whole day, I managed to edit and patch the v1.1 TomTom to include to South Africa maps! Kept crashing, and once I finally got it working, said I cannot use the SA map on this device :(

But I just this second managed to sort it out!

Works perfectly so far, the Contact feature is a cool one :)

Will upload in a bit after I have packaged it all up..

Will put it in the Social Group a bit later ;)

As far as I know this will be the first release :)

When using Gmail as a push service (via ActiveSync) does it constantly poll the server to do constant checking or does it work like a proper push service should?

w.r.t. TomTom v1.1:

Ok it seems Mediafire doesn't like password protected .rar's..They actually check after it's uploaded..

Wish they would tell you these things before you upload...sigh..

So will rar this inside another rar and re-up.. ETA 1hr 30min max

+- 10:00pm

But check at about 9:30

Sorry guys

You are truly DA MAN!

Anyone using Gmail as a push service via ActiveSync? :)

Just tried GPush but it didn't seem to work first time..

Think you can only use it for one account at a time though also.. Not sure.

Anyone got it working?

EDIT: Just got MailNotifier. Also doesn't seem to work?

I purchased it but also can't get it to work. I still use pop3 but I see it only works with imap......... and yes, one account at a time.

I didn't use any third-party applications, just used the built-in Exchange support for ActiveSync as described here. Quite handy, emails are received within 20 seconds and my Google Calendar and iPhone calendar are kept in sync as well :)

Now, to gauge the impact on the battery...

Yeah i saw that but didn't realise it was that simple :)

Thanks for the link.. Thought you had to set up an Exchange account and that.

Cheers

Make sure you disable IMAP on your Gmail account via the web interface, otherwise you will get two new mail notifications for each new mail (once for Inbox/(insert-label-name-here) and once for All Mail). If IMAP is disabled only Inbox (or whichever label you specify) is pushed.

Thanks. Sucks you can only have one Exchange account set up at a time though :/

p.s. works nicely
