I have had 2 android phones and 1 iphone(all rooted/jailbroken).
The big difference for me was that there are more high level developers for iphone vs alot of community dev for android.
Having said that I still prefer the android handsets. The problem is that iphone's have a much better total offering in itunes and the accessories that are available.
So the iphone wins as a total package but handset for handset the android is better.
Its like that for me at least, everyone is entitled to an opinion and im not trying to start a debate or bash anything.

Sorry I should have been more specific, I was meaning untethered.
I see there is a basic exploit version which might be patched at any time. Going to have to hold off on upgrading for now. From what I can see there isnt really any benefit to the new version though.
 
can I buy games from the US itunes store? apologies if this has been covered before but this thread has hundreds of pages. I'm looking for NFS hot pursuit, but it's not available in the ZA itunes store, only the US one.

You can buy apps from the US store, you need to create a US account and then you need to buy itunes vouchers online to use for purchases.
 
I have just created my US iTunes store account, only for one reason.. Inception - The App :) What an amazing app :)
 
Got a major problem with my iPhone 4, dont know whats causing it.
All of a sudden today cellular data is not working no edge/3G, wifi is fine. I am on MTN nework and tried restore and setup as new phone and still
no data connection. I am using iOS 4.1 previously jailbroken. I also updated the carrier settings after the restore and still data network not functional.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated in trying to solve this issue before returning the phone to MTN as it could be a hardware problem.

Hey Dazzla, Exact same thing happened to me 2 days ago, was without data for about 3 days, couldn't figure it out. Phoned VC and they reset my APN? Something like that and bang works.

Give MTN a call, might be something similar.

Since Tuesday I've had the same issue as Grimspoon & Dazzla. I've tried to get the settings off the vodacom website; by calling customer care 082111; and through the *111# self help service. Nada!

There's no human being to speak to & all of the automated replies say my iphone doesn't have internet or mms settings, which is obviously not true. I suspect the issue might be because vodacom is phasing out the vodacom4me domain, which is part of the MMSC settings.

Which vodacom number did you call where you got help/person with whom you could talk? I've been calling the numbers I have since Tuesday with no luck.

check page 1 of this thread, mtn data settings are there, update those on your phone under settings -> general -> network -> cellular data network

Hey guys :)

Been a while? Hows everyone's iPhone(s) doing?

Just thought I'd let you guys know that if anyone wants white iPhone 4 back glass replacements, I've got some spares. They look 100% OEM and I think they're from the Apple factory myself personally ;)

Back doesn't void warranty, whereas front does just btw. Straightforward swap, I can do it for you guys or show you how.

Oh yes, and I also have some spare carbon fibre skins that you stick onto the back of your iPhone 4's glass. I switch between this and my white cover :) They're great if you don't like cases, as it just sticks to the glass, protecting the rear glass, and can be completely removed without leaving any residue

What do you charge for the carbon fibre skins? Do they come in different styles?

I am subscribed to vodacom visual voicemail (paying the R9.99 charge each month), but whenever I get a voicemail and can to phone->voicemail, it dials voicemail and doesn't show me what messages I have... Is there something else that I must activate?
