Syncing maybe... but the reason we cant tether the iPhone as a modem is due to AT&T not wanting its users to rape the unlimited data plan, so we all suffer because of this and have to look for unofficial methods. Hopefully things will change for the rest of us.
 
Can't believe networks like T-Mobile and ATT offer an unlimited data plan for their 3G iPhone users :(

Let's see what Vodacom has to offer... :P

My Apple Bluetooth headset should be arriving today from iGear.co.za - will let you know how well it functions...
 
How many of you have pre-orderer the 3g and received that email to say iteill be herr month-end? I didnt get one! A new Incredible Connection opened in Boksburg yesterday, and in store they have a Vodacom add saying 3g now available. Asked about it, they only know it should be here month end, still no idea of prices! Cant believe they say 'available now'!

Repeat after me....I will never ever (again) believe anything Incredible Corruption tells me. :p
 
Can someone please tell me more about Genius? What is it? I see I have to turn it on, and it will send info about my iTunes library to Apple? Why????

Yep, has to send your music library to compute a good idea of what you like, I don't like this part either.

Apple has said that no ip information is logged during the process and that it uses the information for statistical purposes only.
Genius works so well, that I cant imagine not having it!
 
So we have to take their word at it? Before someone sings 'where's your head at' again. :)
 
The iphone is not network locked. However, for it to be used to it's full ability you will need to have an iphone-apn activated on your sim card. Only Vodacom have this APN...

well...
Once you enable the Genius option,
1. it analyzes your library (this might take a while depending on how big your library is)
2. it then sends this information to apple (if i remember correctly at some point apple makes you sign a disclaimer, in it they say that the information is anonymous etc.)
3. it then sends back information to your computer that links all your songs in some vudu genius matrix.

Once that is done:
If you select a song in itunes and press the genius button it will create a playlist for you (25,50,75,100 songs). This playlist comes from the information that they sent back to you, so all the songs in some way relate to the one song you clicked.
I was very skeptical about it before I tried it, but now im never going to create playlists without it.
 
That sounds very good. I guess my only worry would be security. I am so sceptical on sending info, but I guess its Apple?

Hmm... so I just debunked the rumor that it would be possible to officially unlock my US iPhone using a vodacom sim, if it's a US model that means AT&T owns it and they call the shots through iTunes :(

I am using my iPhone on MTN without a problem, and have also used it with Cell C. It's the 2G one, but the APN is just the data gateway.

I think you might be meaning visual voicemail, which i dont think Vodacom have implemented.

Have you still got the locked iGear iphone or have you returned it? you can get the 16GB for much cheaper now and officially... UNLOCKED :)
