Look, I really didn't mind paying R69 for an application and I did it willingly...

I think what shivz and everyone else on this thread are talking about, is the inconvenience on actually purchasing a 3rd-party app when it could have been integrated into the original firmware anyway....

I'm sure they'll release it in a future firmware upgrade though...

fxit... I typed chown -R root /var/mobile instead of -R mobile /var/mobile/

Now my phone won't go past pineapple screen...

How do I undo that command now?

Your answer is in your question i think, try doing it again with the mobile ownership instead of root.

Damnit!! All I did was change a stupid .plist value in the Celestial framework to try increase mic sensitivity on the bluetooth headset and everything has crashed!

I REALLY don't feel like restoring all over again! Atleast I can still SSH into the phone while its stuck on the boot logo screen so I can backup...

damn... hard one considering you cant SSH back into the phone to change permissions again, or even turn the thing on...

hmm..that is a hard one..

you would have to force the phone into DFU/Restore mode and restore via iTunes im afraid..Unless you can SSH into the thing?

EDIT: i see you can SSH into the thing

type chown -R mobile var/mobile

does that not fix it?

I can SSH using Cyberduck but can't SSH using Terminal!

:(

I guess this is a restore again?! What a mission..

Guys this isn't even funny..

Can't enter DFU mode....

Just remains on pineapple screen!!!!

Don't worry :p

Have you connected the phone to the dock and:

Held the home and power buttons together to shut down the phone?

Then hold the home and power for 10 seconds, release the power button while keeping the home button pressed down for a further 30 seconds? Should go into DFU mode.. If not , try restore mode

I can't remember which one of you guys told me to pierce my little holes where the speaker is located but I did it today :D

Gee it really does make a difference...

Yeah it's an old trick, maybe some iPhones are not assembled properly or most likely grease and dust blockage.
