Seems like everyone is misunderstanding you...lets hope i understand you right.

You can do a restore via iTunes (that will remove jailbreak and also everything else, sms, photo's etc, backup first if you want to keep them)

You will still have to unlock it by using WinPWN or equivalent though (refer to first page), just without jailbreaking. Even though Vodacom now sells the iPhone, yours is probably an import (like mine :) ) and voda cannot and will not activate it.

o ok thanx lim ... is there no way i can just use it like a guy that got it from vodacom and hasnt jail broken it?
thus i just plug it into itunes and update or something

EDIT: i think i might be cryptic as im not 100 % sure what im talking about...

there used to be some activation that had to be bypassed ... do we still need to bypass this , or can any iphone now be activated if you are on vodacom?

jailbreaking is just for neater apps etc, am i right?

thats precisely what i wanted to know ... thanx a million renierp.

so i can now upgrade/reset my phone via itunes , and then just unlock it with winPWN , and if i want i can jailbreak it as well to get all the jailbreak-advantages.

thanx for the info.

Renierp, quick question, does quickPWN or winPWN activate the iphone 3G, or just jailbreak it? can't remember if it does?

No unlock for the iPhone 3G yet, when there is an unlock it will be available here first...

If you are asking about just activating, you have to activate to jailbreak so yes it can activate but not unlock.

"you have to activate to jailbreak"

question was if winPWN or quickPWN activates the phone for you, in stead of you having to activate via iTunes, i know it does for the 2G phone, and i know it doesn't network unlock the 3G phone, only 2G, was just wondering about the activation

QuickPwn does not sort of activating for 3G. Correct me if I am wrong, but last time I tried it did not activate. I had to build my own IPSW in PwnageTool and select 'Activate Phone' in the first menu..

My Pleasure.

@Theron.Roland... seems like you got your answer. :)

I collected a new iphone this afternoon. Vodacare told me that they do not repair the iphone phone, they simply hand out new phones when one gets broken (although that process still took them 9 days). they were unable to tell me why the first phone broke. new one is working - for now!

Some questions:

Bluetooth: is it possible to connect with a bluetooth car kit , and when i leave and then get back into my car it automatically reconnects to it?

Where can i download premade m4r files? even though they are easy to make ... im just too darn lazy.

and also : is it possible to play the ipod part through a bluetooth headset? EDIT : did more searches and the audio thing is impossible.

Great web site to set you MTN APN settings:
wan.to/iphone

Just buy from any vodashop, get onto a wifi network, safari to this site, and click MTN. Thereafter your iPhone works exactly like a vodacom phone but for MTN. 100%. Even pre jailbreak

Not quite sure what you mean in this post? What website is great? Buy what from a vodashop, an iPhone? What do you mean works exactly? unlocked?

Glad to hear that. Post if you need any help with jailbreaking etc...

Just upgraded mine and now the icons are missing :(:(

The latest version is v1.03. You icons will only go away if you place them into the SBSettings Dock. Which is pathetic - that's why I don't use the dock in the app.

Did you hide any apps in the settings?
