Maybe a reset of the unit? I have never heard about this. I would do a hard or soft reset but you will lose your information I think.

Tried this, even restored the phone to the vanilla version (no hack/crack/unlocking/jailhouse anything), it still does exactly the same thing, seems as though it does not know that it should switch on the speaker, unless you manually do it, and always thinks that the handset is connected

weird.. try plugging the headphones in and out many times until it fixes it.. i've heard this fixes it sometimes
tried that too, but am afraid I might damage the socket. Well the consolation is, that it seems to be an isolated incident, as far as people posting on this board, so when I get a new one, chances are it might work

my mom was trying to be clever and updated her 2g iphone via itunes to the latest firmware a while ago...
it was on 1.1.4 but now i think its got 2.2 installed.
anyway, whats the best way to unlock and jailbreak?
it seems the firmware installation was successful but it cant be activated because it's locked...

Anyone tried out DTunes yet? *edit Sorry it's an app on the phone not windows like iTunes*
I hate iTunes, I hate syncing.
DTunes is awesome, I just drag and drop using DiskAID (an explorer application for windows that mounts the iPhone to your PC as a drive, you can even view the root).
DTunes has built in search, either for single mp3's or torrents (the addresses for these can be customized by yourself).
It also preinstalls the download tweak for safari, which allows you to either download or execute a file instead of automatic execute.
The torrents work a dream.
It even plays through my griffin iTrip.
Anyone used this?

I am overseas at the moment and I use it everyday! Wherever I go there are open 24MB unlimited WiFi hotspots... The app is really awesome... I also use MxTube to download YouTube videos...

does dTunes allow you to search and download torrents directly now? or at least picks up the torrents from the downloaded .torrent file after downloading from safari?
in previous versions you pretty much had to use the torrent ID from which ever torrent site you used, and then type it in manually into the torrent download section

download it with firefox, that way you can resume your download, or install mass downloader, it's excellent at speeding up downloads and it can also resume

for apple app store, the price will be on the download page, cydia and installer, usually on the 'more info' pages

don't even worry about network unlock, south African iPhones aren't network locked to begin with
When you get the download iTunes in the meantime, and get a USA iTunes account, instructions are at www.globalitunes.com, you have to buy a iTunes store voucher though, but it's worth it to have a USA account and not an SA account, much more and better apps (free and otherwise)
When you get the phone, restore to fw 2.2, then jailbreak with quickpwn, send me a private message if you need info on apps and stuff, detailed instructions on how to do what can be found in the first message post in this forum thread
