@Fxit - the warning on the iPhone dev site is quite clear re the 'itchy fingers' - if you have an unlocked phone they say you should not do the beta upgrade.

Ok, so, this has been said like a hundred tines already, SA iPhones are not network locked, so no need to have them unlocked, if you have a non legit phone, then steer clear

you have to keep in mind that OS 3.0 cannot be jailbroken, other than that, alls fine

anyways, those who want a dev group for the forum get in touch, want to get it done now

Hey fxit_man :) I had to download QuickPwn 225.2 as my iPhone was already on 2.2.1 that is why I was getting the error, now just one last question, my phone is not locked (can use Cell-C, MTN or Vodacom sim) I assume this means not locked, so... all I need to do is run QuickPWN and Jailbreak, right? I don't want to "break" it any more than it is :)

Woops, uploaded the wrong version

Sorry about that.

Yeah, just run QuickPwn and make sure the Jailbreak + Cydia option is selected. You can forget about the rest.

:) Good luck

and it will still remain unlocked but will be jailbroken?

Yep :) Since you bought it here in SA, you don't have to worry about it being locked again.

Only thing i've heard is people having to do it a few times otherwise they get the "No Signal" message. But after a few jailbreaks it gets fixed apparently.
Just the 3G version. Pretty weird. But go ahead imo

:) don't see a Jailbreak option, just Add Cydia, Add Installer and Replace Boot logos

yeah reason being i'm running a software unlocked iPhone (2G) bought in the USA..

Don't really want to depend on a possibly unstable OS..

...and thats why I gave him the warning Theron - I know he has an unlocked phone. I am well aware that a local 3G iPhone from VC is unlocked. ;)

Now... how do I use MP3's as ringtones? As this thread is far to long now to search through it :)

I think I may have installed Installer onto my wifes phone :) any way to remove it?

Well you could probably just delete the Installer.app file in Applications (if such a folder exists)

But i'd probably just jailbreak it again with Installer unticked to make sure no other files are left around the place..
