After using the tethering solution on http://www.marcforrest.com/2009/06/1...ing-on-iphone/ my MMS's don't seem to go through, not sure it it's related. Can anyone confirm?

[EDIT] MMS wasn't working 'cause that Tether-enable-install changes the MMS APN to 'internet', I changed it back to mms.vodacom.net and it works now.

Ok the tethering wasnt working too well and MMS seemed a bit buggy after using the IPCC fix so I'm busy restoring it to 3.0 and will try that marcforrest solution for tethering

Anyone else having problems syncing their music to the iphone? The OS has updated, all my apps are fine, but I keep getting the 13019 error after it tries to sync the music.

Is anyone even excited about the release?
I've been playing around wit it this morning and I think it's absof#$en-lutely awesome!!! Spotlight is a godsent, copy and paste is even better than expected and there's loads of smaller changes that aren't so obvious and aren't all mentioned in the release notes (like podcast fast forwarding). Also, finally they've fixed the bug that now allows you to switch to landscape WHILE typing in a textbox, I never thought they'd actually fix it...yeaah!

@roland. I picked this up in another thread and it has fixed my missing tethering button.

Good thing I never read this forum until now. I got a tweet about this for tethering and boom bada bing it worky. Didn't (still don't) care for MMS but configured it using his settings which are the same as those mentioned here.

I think it's wonderful. All of the "new" features I have been using with 3rd party apps like the global search (now spotlight) SwirlyMMS, Text+ etc etc...but it's great to have everything stock standard!!! An I LOVE the fact that we can now send contact detail!!! Well done Apple...once again leading the pack!

Raptor, can you do me a favour??

check if your apn is still iphone.vodafone.za for data

once you've checked this, try:

browse www.google.com on safari
go to messaging and send an mms (to yourself is fine)
then browse www.google.com again
then try to tether

I've found that when modifying the data apn's the data connection on the phone becomes unstable, so, when you use safari you continue to get page cannot be found or data connection could not be established errors

please check these and let me know?

I think its fantastic Apple finally woke up - but I don't think they should be congratulated for giving functionality other phones have had by default for years now.. Don't get me wrong the iPhone is awesome; it's just taken them a bit too long :)

Have you enabled manual manage of your music in iTunes?

Do you mean have I clicked the sync music button? Yeah, I've done that. It's weird, becasue the music is on my phone. itunes sees it and it has taken up the space. But when I look on the phone, it says there is no music there.

I had that as well. in itunes, sync music, but be sure to uncheck all the playlists etc. This effectively removes the music from the phone. Restart the phone and itunes (not sure if actually needed) and select the playlist you want to sync and sync again. I did that and it worked

Just takes a while to copy 8gb of music back onto the phone.

Are you guys receiving MMS? from other phones? I can send, but cant receive. Have tried from vodacom, and MTN, both dont come through.

Any thoughts?

Vodacom tethering and MMS settings that works for me

Here is the settings that worked for me for tethering and MMS on Vodacom:

http://www.mpieters.com/2009/06/iphone-vodacom-mms-and-tethering.html

Important - if you are running the golden master version of iPhone OS 3.0, first restore with the official version from iTunes. The file sizes are different from GM version, and I suddenly had success with MMS and tethering.

Hey Roland, ermmm...well my Data APN has changed to 'internet', as for the rest, I'd love to help now but I'm can't actually test tethering 'cause I'm connected to a server at work :(
I'll try to test it as soon as possible

Guys after loading marcforrests profile (tethering, browsing the net on phone and then sent an mms) it then resets my data/mms settings to "internet" (even after I changed it to vodacoms correct ones) and now suddenly internet tethering has disappeared from my settings - I'm just going to remove it and wait for vodacom to get it released properly.

and there's the problem again, you WANT to stay on the iphone.vodafone.za apn, try to change it back to that, see if mms and mobile safari then still work well together, i.e, send yourself an mms, wait to receive it back, browse a bit with safari, and then repeate

let me know if you get data connection cannot be established errors, i'm betting you will...
