I've been playing around wit it this morning and I think it's absof#$en-lutely awesome!!! Spotlight is a godsent, copy and paste is even better than expected and there's loads of smaller changes that aren't so obvious and aren't all mentioned in the release notes (like podcast fast forwarding). Also, finally they've fixed the bug that now allows you to switch to landscape WHILE typing in a textbox, I never thought they'd actually fix it...yeaah!

profiles don't back out apn settings i'm afraid, i tried that on the betas, i see another restore in your near future.... da da dum

i think you're right .. my mms apn keeps disappearing - although i can still send mms's; i'll leave it for now.

Yup, getting errors, so err.. .what exactly does this all mean? I need to restore and wait for vodacom to release official tethering settings?
Oh, and Roland, why is it so important to stay on the iphone.vodafone.za apn?
 
The Facebook app doesn't allow you to copy and paste stuff, but you can copy and paste text from email, sms, etc into it. Come on Facebook, show us you care. lol

I'm gonna wait for Vodacom to release a config file. I'm sure it will be soon.

again, please go edit your other posts to say that you eventually noticed it doesn't work so the other numpties don't follow the example without reading the whole thread....

you restore the firmware, and you DON'T restore a backup, set your phone up as a new phone

as for iphone.vodacom.za

it's generally believed (yet unconfirmed) that the iphone specific apn's are set up differently from a usual apn (i.e, vodacom's internet apn), which improves or enables support for things like push notifications etc.

it could very well be that these still work on the normal "internet" apn, but we don't know, fact is, vodacom wouldn't have gone and installed an extra apn for iphones only if it didn't need to...
 
does anyone have a mobileme account and a vodacom iphone? want to test the "internet apn does not support push theory"...

I have a similar problem. I can send MMS to myself and other Vodacom numbers, but I don't receive from MTN.

VERY FRUSTRATING! Is this an MTN issue or are the two networks just not talking to each other!?

it's an MTN only issue

other networks can't receive mtn mms because of the way they finalize their mms data packets, swirly mms had this bug as well, and I strongly believe apple used the code from the early swirly version (which was submitted to the app store) to build their own mms solution, which is why it has the same bug
 
anyone else having issues with vodacom 3G data connection at the moment? i'm hoping vodacom's data is down and i haven't buggered up my phone again

internet and iphone.vodafone.za isn't working for me at the moment....

uuugh... I'm still stuck on the 'internet' APN (it seems to work)...don't have the energy to restore the damn phone again :( Should've just left tethering alone (didn't need it anyway!)

Roland had the same now. If I remove the MMS settings my internet work :confused:

they haven't in over a year

happy waiting...

swirly eventually patched their mms app, you're more likely to convince apple to do the same than you are in convincing mtn to change their mmsc configuration for a phone they don't support
 
Ok, so next question for the clever guys! Where do you find the notes icon? If I do a search in spotlight, the notes appear there, but i can't open them!
