Please help guys:

I have downloaded the latest 3.0 OS and updated itunes to 8.2

Now I need to install, but when I click on shift and press the restore button in itunes I get the message "There was a problem downloading the software for the iphone....." without even giving me the option to select the restore file.

Can someone please help with the above?

Anyway, maybe re-install itunes?

silly question (I'm sure) :

If I'm on a Jailbroken 2.2.1 at the moment, Can I just go ahead and upgrade to 3.0 or do I need to restore 1st

BTW I did try to search 1st but there's TMI

You can upgrade, no need to restore...

3.0 does feel faster on my 2G...

I restored using virtualbox so I had no need to downgrade the system version of Itunes to 8.1 for the pwned firmware.

Guys, I've replaced my IPCC's with that damn internet install, but I'm going to leave it like that for now (with 'interent' APN that seems to work ok)....any really good reasons I shouldn't? (Don't want to lose my sms's and I don't want to resync 15GB of data )

Yeah I know, you're sick of this whole IPCC debacle, but so far I haven't found any real reason to not use the 'internet' APN, the only one might be the fact that any future iPhone network features might just work through the iPhone APN...

are you saying your data connection is stable, even inbetween mms and tethering?

Do I need to have internet connect in order to be able to use restore...cause this piece of sh*t keeps on telling me the following:

"itunes could not contact the iPhone software update server because you are not connected to the Internet"

unfortunately yes, only works with internet to stop people from selecting the wrong out of date restore file.

Hmm...tested it again now. The internet browsing was fine, then I sent myself an MMS, after that I got that connection error message once in safari, but after I tapped OK browsing worked OK... I guess that means it's not really stable (faaaaark!!!! )

no, that's actually regular behavior, as the phone has to switch between apn's, sometimes takes a few seconds...

Off the topic of the new OS, I want to know if it possible to use a USA bank account to buy apps off the app store.....I have an account in the states but don't have a card.
