Not cool dude, I'm really pissed.... Everything was fine this morning and now it's a sh1tfest!!! All my stuff....gone.

Don't expect any sympathy from us if you're willing to go hacking around with unsupported IPCC files and whatnot despite knowing full well the risks involved. If you want safety and some recourse when things go wrong wait until Vodacom enables all this stuff with an automatic update, otherwise I suggest you stop complaining. The guys who provide these files and processes do so as a service to those of us who understand the risks and are happy to deal with them and they owe you absolutely nothing if things go wrong.

Out of interest, has anybody managed to get Push Notifications in apps working without using custom configs or IPCC files?

11. Search in mail
12. Sync your notes
13. Sync with Google Calendar
14. Search in the iPod

Bwahahahahahahaha. Bwahahahahahahaha. You got to be kidding????

@theron : funny - my data bundles were also messed up last month. I wonder if it was a general problem. They also turned off my CLIP and it took me a week of fighting with them to get it turned back on. Customer service at Vodacom is useless. I get more luck using internal contacts! Just checked again, and iphone apn does not come off my bundle. Anyway, its not serious - as long as it works I am happy!

Any issues I have had have promptly been solved by the walk in centre in Canal Walk. You should give them a go.

Still nobody is prepared to help me out yoh. Come on smile on me I need to update to OS 3.0. If you are in Milnerton or the Southern Suburbs and prepared to update my Iphone 3G please PM me :(

I am in Century City in the evenings :)

Off the topic of the new OS, I want to know if it possible to use a USA bank account to buy apps off the app store.....I have an account in the states but don't have a card.

Best to buy itunes US certificates instead.

Another off topic question, and I have googled this, but all of a sudden I have noticed a distinct grey border around my screen. Searched google, most say its normal, a few have said its a fault. Only noticed it since I did the OS3 upgrade. Fluke maybe? Maybe I just didnt notice it before. Everyones phone like this?

Here is a pic of some guys phone with the same issue.

In a certain light you'll spot this on any iPhone 3G. Its the end of the 'LCD' ...mine is actually a little misaligned in that its thicker on one side than the other..annoying but only visible in direct sunlight.

I cant spot it on my wifes 2G - more evidence of the nose dive that build quality took between the two iterations.

@roland & @fxit I have deleted the ipcc files on my server so the link no longer works.

Yeah I never noticed it until today and assumed it was OS3, but highly unlikely.

Now that I have noticed it, it is going to irritate me

Just to summarize the festivities of the last 24 hours in iPhoneland:
Should someone download the latest version of iTunes, install it and plug in their Vodacom purchased iPhone 3G they will be prompted to download OS 3.0, after this has downloaded and installed they will then have an iPhone 3G with OS 3.0. MMS will work once the correct settings are applied but tethering is at this stage (for all intents and purposes) not functioning. All of the other advertised features are working fine.
If the phone was previously jailbroken it will no longer be. There is no jailbreak for OS 3.0 at the present time.

Does that aptly describe the current situation?

Its damnwell impossible to fathom what is potting by reading through or indeed following this thread over the time that has passed since OS 3.0 was released.

so, when do you guys reckon the jailbreak will be out?
according to the dev team's blog, they're expecting to release ultrasnow tomorrow and as far as i know you'll have to have jailbroken your iphone before you can install that, yes?
so possibly a jailbreak by tomorrow afternoon?

Thanks for that summary SlinkyMike. . . I stopped following the thread last night as it was just getting more and more confussing. . .I will wait for the hype to die down before sorting MMS / Tethering out (when it gets sorted)

I'd say but it's still not 100% complete..
