can someone help me out, i downloaded the sygic app and replaced the map with the aus.pak from http://www.megaupload.com/?d=EIICXPOF.

it says 'waiting for valid signal' at the bottom, i dont have my 3g on, does it have to be on to use this app?

3G does not have to be on, but you do need GPS. It sometimes takes a while to find satelites.

Just access the googlemap app and then go back to the gps application and it should work then...

Guys quick question, I want to restore my phone, to many crashes.
How can one do it without downloading the file again? I have it on my machine but it keeps trying to re-download the file from Apple.

use itunes to restore. it restores it to the last existing working version...

If you are using windows, its shift and left click on the update or restore button

For Windows, hold down the shift key and press restore.
For Mac hold down the alt key and press restore.

Now brows to the file:
Windows: Documents and Settings\<User>\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates
Mac: ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates

No need to edit the info.plist unless you want to change the displayed name of the app. I want to figure out how to change the way it says "loading XXX map" so that XX is not Australia and is South Africa

takes quite a while though to find a valid signal, is that normal?

my 2G battery life has still not improved, sure the phone is 2 years old so getting a day's standby time is good but before 3.0 my battery life was still damn good and lasted days.

Same here... im considering a clean restore (again) but it takes so damn long installing all those jailbroken apps. And then i might just install the culprit again.

Theres a file under the map folder I think, Australia.msp, or something like that. Just change that too South Africa, then it shows multimap South Africa loaded. It then also shows South Africa under the available maps.

You have been active in this thread for a long time, you ought to know better - in fact you most likely do and are just lazy; inconsiderate and have a deep seated sense of entitlement.

Unfortunately I am pissing in my own eye by posting this as its just further polluting the thread... so that will be all on this subject from me, feel free to retort in PM (because lord knows that you have some or other inane response welling up inside that little melon right now.)
