Not sure if this has been raised before and I am not going through 400 pages to check. If you add the address details in your contacts and then tap it the phone brings up a map to that location.

See, I am impressed by shiny things. :)

click, i dare u
Doih...

Yup - I have that and have just got around it like you did (just going back into Cydia) - is a little annoying but not a biggie. Maybe email the Cydia dev. Saurik?

anyone else having the annoying cydia issue where, you launch cydia, it tells you there's 3 updates for example, which you install, it then restarts springboard or closes cydia or returns to cydia, but either way, the next time you look at the cydia icon, it shows (3) updates available on the icon badge, which happens to be the 3 you already installed, so if you launch cydia again, there's no updates, then press home, and the (3) badge as magically disappeared....? not a train smash, but, annoying, i don't like unfinished things on my springboard....

uhm, you don't need a data bundle to browse/use internet on the phone?

just more expensive if you don't have one

Really? I'll have to check then because we did try and access the weather service with no joy whatsoever and assumed that it was because she had no internet access. Is there anything that we're supposed to do? We're both on Vodacom and both have contracts - mine is one of those Talk 400s? and hers is a business one.

Both phones are iPhone 3G and both are at 3.0.

No, we haven't jail broken anything.

settings -> general -> network -> cellular data network -> change apn to internet

or call vodacom and tell them to enable your phones on the iphone apn (the one which is set on the phone by default), if the idiot on the other side of the phone doesn't understand that, keep screaming till you speak to his manager/team lead, and ask them the same

ps, nicely done on the detail info provided....

Yup this happens all the time! It is indeed annoying! The only way to get rid of it, like you said, it open up Cydia again and let it refresh from beginning! Cydia annoys me, it takes sooooo long to load up and refresh data! I use Icy hand-in-hand with Cydia.... All my quick updates I go through Icy. To install my major jailbroken apps, such as important Cydia updates, Winterboard, SBSettings I only use Cydia - but for everything else I just use Icy - it's so much quicker..

Roland, u on 3.1 b3 yet?

Haha!! There WILL be an idiot on the other side, not knowing what the hell the iPhone APN is... But yes, that does work :) Just start screaming and demand that your number gets activated to use the iPhone APN!!!

As roland knows, I went thru endless phone calls trying to get them to do at Nashua Mobile!!!

In the mean time just use 'internet' as the APN with no user/pass entered.

I have been having headaches with my 3G on vodacom. Its forever giving me could not activate cellular data connection errors on email or browser. I called vodacom and nice explained to the lady what to do. She screwed it up and i get an sms saying my service has been deleted. So i call again and this time they get it right and i get an sms saying the service has been activated.

Is anyone else having issues with data connections with VC? Its so frustrating!

Could a restore not solve this perhaps? I am not sure but thats what I would try.

Yep, am also getting it - annoying it is.

If you click on an address in an email on the iPhone - it also brings up a map of the location - very cool.

no real desire to be on it, no major feature updates? OS3.0 was a different story, was like having a new iphone, this just fixes bugs at the cost of loosing jailbreak for now, will wait till redsn0w supports 3.1 before going there

Another thing...

What are the pros of being on the iphone APN on VC and not just the normal internet?

gaah, so i did the upgrade to 3.0 last night!

so far so good, except
my 3g doesnt wanna work, i get the icon and everything but not data, i changed the apn to internet, still doesnt work tho :(
and i have no mms settings in there so i don't even see mms on my phone anywhere :(
